Well the Pats traded away Seymour for a 1st round pick. So I'd say that would have a small hit on their chances. Yet they are 6???Bit short?Colts looking better at 20 to me and the packers still look the outstanding value

'How well they (The Pats) would have got on with him is hard to say as they did finish 11 wins to 5 losses. Yet failed to make the play-offs. Whether him been around would have made enough difference to win them another Superbowl would seem unlikely.'

What?

They lost the peaking greatest QB in the history of the game, replaced him a rookie without even any college experience and went 11-5

And you think its unlikely they would have won the whole thing with Brady? Youre crazy

YOS.....New Engalnd couldn't win the Superbowl in 2008 with a team on a 18 match unbeaten run. So whether a fit Brady could have done it for them alone in 2009 was questionable.

In truth while Cassels might not have been up to Brady standards most would say he didn't let anybody down thats for sure.

Certainly judgeing by the clear out in New Engalnd from the backroom boys to the team itself during the off season.....Its would seems Belichick must of had his doubts as well otherwise why break up a potentially winning team with Brady back if thats all they were missing. ;)

well i havent added anything to this yet- really have to admit i havent given this year the same attention as previous years

giants- a negative for me until i see who their recievers are getting it done- they have the run game but loses to key personal in defence and they fall apart- the reason they won in 2008 was they finally after years of losing men like stratham, pierce and co they stayed fit and were brilliant in playoffs- last year they lost plaxico and fell apart

new england have lost teddy bruschi and the back up quarterback- they lost somebody else big as well but the name eludes me now- as i said not following it as religiously

the team to follow for me this season are the philidelpia eagles- made conference final and lost epic game to my tip last season arizona cardinals

other teams to follow this season are tennesse with vince young back on board going head to head with kerry collins

other teams i'll be following on the spreads are green bay, minnesota and san diego when healthy

10/1 san diego is short given the injury rates of ladallian and rivers and with shaun merrimen, their star linebacker being accused of assaulting a woman- it could be a long season for these lads- if they were a rugby union team they'd be France- can beat anybody on their day but not usually fit to win 4 back to back which is required come playoff time

ps. backing tennessee tonight on the spead

Even though Im an Eagles fan Im not very confident that McNabb can deliver a Super Bowl. He throws interceptions for fun in the playoffs. Only 1 win out of their last last 5 NFC championship games (which lead to a SuperBowl defeat) shows a lack of big day bottle. Some other negatives would be the untimely loss of their defensive coach, the Vick situation potentially, over relance on an aging and often injured Westbrook.
OK, in a success starved sports mad city, some of the pressure may have been relieved by the Phillies winning the World Series last season - but Ill be happy enough to cheer them on without a financial interest this season.

Instead, my Cork winnings this Sunday will be going on the Chargers, New Orleans e/w and Ravens e/w.
Chargers: LT was poor last year but he carried an injury though practically the whole season. Antonio Gates and Vincent Jackson can expect lots of quality from Rivers again this season, especially at home in sunny California. They look like they have a good schedule this seaosn and Id expect them to go minimum 12-4.

For the Saints, Drew Brees is the real star and posibly the best q-back in the game right now. They have bundles of options in the air and on the ground and should be real entertainers this season.

The Ravens on the other hand should be x-rated. They are pretty dour - but they have lost their defensive coach to the Jets so perhaps they can concentrate on offense for a change. They put up 38 points in week1, with Flacco looking like he he might not be permanently scarred by last seasons playoff meltdown in Pittsburg. Id be looking for a big season from LeRon McClain and Willis McGahee and the usual defensive powerhouse from Ray Lewis. They have their work cut out to win their division but look good for a wildcard with a regular season of 10-6 or better.

Trapper...I don't think you have much choice if you want to bet on Philly as Sunday 5 o'clock is too late to try and get in on NAMA. No doubt you be long with them alright another misguided fo0l except in your case its not property thats will be your demise but betting on a bunch of langers to beat the Kingdom in Croke Park. B-)

Not to worry in a backward way your money is gone on Philly. I'm delighted with Vicks especially now McNab is out with a broken rib though he says he still might make the Saints game on Sunday.

Either way their 3rd choice q/b did alright last weekend at Carolina though they too were badly hit with injuries.

I wouldn't lose any sleep either if you have no money left to bet the Chargers. Merriman looks like he could mess them up again depending on how his**pe charge proceeds. We certainly find out more about them with the Ravens and the Steelers to come over the next 3 weeks. Either way they are already priced up for a 12-4 season at just 10/1.

Yeah the Ravens were impressive last week but there plenty short enough now is it 16/1 with the magic sign as for the Saints there always early season wonders because when they win they will always win well but I'm on the Falcons for the NFC South and are more worried about Carolina when they get over their injuries worries than the Saints to be honest.

So come Sunday 5 o'clock don't worry. As it would have been only a matter of time anyway before you had lost your shirt. ;)

Bless, I try not to let my heart rule my head so Im not having an interest in The Birds with my Rebels winnings. McNabb might miss this weekend but he will be back and Vick is not going to get a starting slot when he becomes eligible. God help us if Kolb ever starts!

It will be interesting to see if the Falcons build on an excellent last season - all will depend on Michael Turner putting up more big numbers I feel. I think the Saints have more options - with Pierre Thomas coming back into lineup this week for example.

I was over in the US last month and the experts over there were aghast at how rubbish the pre-season was. The view seems to be that the first 4 rounds of the regular season are now of similar intensity to pre-season say 5 -10 years ago. Bearing that in mind, it might not be too wise to read too much into early season form. Teams are trying to hit their peak in December/Jan - see Giants of 07/08. A bit like Kerry peaking every year in August/Sept.

the chargers were rotten last night- jets were bringing the blitz all night yet rivers couldnt get the ball down field

maybe rex was right, they should be favourites- if the chargers couldnt get it done, i cant see why anybody thinks the colts will defiently get it done

on the other side, should be evenly matched- was a bit disappointed to see the vikings celebrating heavily after the game- bigger days ahead and all that

i backed the saints last season to small stakes, didnt go in at 25s this year unfortunately but then again, i cant really see them winning it

bet now is AFC winner at 8/11 imo

OLDBEAN...Nah its not all bad. The COLTS are running for me at 1/1 with pps.

In spite of what**gy says I agree with the bookies that they are a 1/4 chance to beat the Jets. Manning v the rookie Sanchez at home at this stage is a no contest for me.

Considering the NFC probably couldn't have went worse for me. I'm happy enough with my situation

Its either the Saints for - £2k or Vikings -£1200 for a gain of £1k off the Colts...which is probably near enough neutral if I cash it in after the Colts game next week.

The Colts is still the one you want to be on now if your LIFE depended on it. Thankfully its not that stage for me yet. :^0 ....Cheers

The colts have a great chance this year , massive price aswell. And the Pats,SD have obvious chances. Cant see the Steelers having enough this year tbh. And outside chances for Jets and Packers

Fairly alright , bit suprised with the Packers tbh

Well done so far to BJG , PREMIER FANTASY, and TRAPPER JOHN who all told us to get on 25/1 NEW ORLEANS for the NFL and 50/1 for the SUPERBOWL.

Well they landed the 1st half of the bet anyway. B-) WELL DONE GUYS.
..........................................................................................................

PS. Oldbean yeah out of jail alright 1/2 the Colts now so I layed them. I go off now and live to fight another day. I just didn't get the rub of the green this year and last night was no different. :^0

yeah well done lads

wished i kept them in my portfolio this season

i'll be cheering on the colts though

backed the afc at 8/11 and couldnt understand or still cant understand the market bless

you'er be a bigger punter than me but i was scratching me head

i said before that the afc was overpriced in that market.
8/11 4/5

colts were short to beat jets but even if jets had beaten the colts they'd of been nearly favs to beat saints or vikings after stoping manning and rivers

then last night colts win and the price doesnt move at all, colts are around 1.88-1.84 to win superbowl

so the saintsa and vikings battle it out, saints favs to win so thinking being that the market would have it as a

colts 1.8 saints 2.2

but no colts fell into 1.54 after the match

i think that is about their right price, as both have awesome offences but i'd rate the colts stopping drew bress more than manning getting stopped

just wonder why the market was so slow reacting?

why were the colts trading at 1.88 after booking their passage and then the favs win the nfc game and then colts price collapses

**gy...I think the feeling is the best team lost last night in the NFL decider. Based on Favre fumbles and cruical inception and the fact the Vikings were playing away.

But both teams looked pretty poor last night and past there best before date and neither probably would have been there only for their quick start to the season and gaining home advantage in the play-offs.

And as you said New Orleans defence look non existent so Manning should have a field day

So it be a brave man who go any higher than 8/15 on the Colts 4/9 in some places.....Cheers

Who have thought the Saints defence would win it for them? :^0

I don't know CONGRADULATIONS to them and all that. But I would put them down as the luckiest Superbowl winner for years. Not just on the Superbowl display but also the NFC final and the fact they got the No 1 seed and home advantage off some luck early wins.

But fair play to them that city and the people in it needed some good luck after Hurricane Katrina and Drew Brees seem a nice guy......Wouldn't be mad about their coach Sean Payton though.

Good to see a few boys on here tip them up at 25/1 such as TRAPPER JOHN, BJG and AWESOME IMPACT alias premier fantasy at the start of the season.

SUPER TIPPING guys.........ENJOY........Cheers Bless

Well done the super Saints. The coach made some seriously risky calls in a game. 4th and goal from the 2 and the on-side kick were 2 plays that you would never expect in when trailing by only score. Fair play to Sean Payton for having the balls.
