He has now claimed that shutting down successful accounts is to save the ordinary punter and allow them to get their 20 on at a good price. :^0
What a joke!

Numerous callers in complaining about closed accounts.
And a guy in Dublin who claims he has been recognised in shops he has never visited before, he was enquiring about cctv etc to ask how he was recognised.
Mr P gave the usual waffle about managing liabilities...before saying successful ac's were closed as these 'big hitters' were hoovering up the top prices with their big bets, before the little man in the shop could get on. So he was doing it for the mugs lol
He was then asked how many account holders who lost on a consistent basis had their accounts closed.......To which he replied he did not have the figures to hand :^0 But imagined it was very few.

After all it is a business, and if the gob s ites throw all their money into the liffey you can't blame Paddy for gobbling it all up. That's my opinion.
Paddy did fine. After all it is a business, and if the gob s ites throw all their money into the liffey you can't blame Paddy for gobbling it all up. That's my opinion.
Paddy did fine if you are an experienced punter but non punters hearing stories of winning accounts closed and people losing their Christmas money would have been horrified.PP wont get any new customers from today but they might lose a few.

Obviously had been trying to get his account closed i.e; win money but couldn't find the winners so probably should've closed his account anyway, nothing to do with the show, he's obviously a mug and didn't know that flowers only entertain mugs in the first place.

It sounded like me paddy was saying if he was manager of Dunne Stores and he had Cornfakes on special offer if a customer came in and just brought them without also buying the milk.
He would be barred from the store. :0
I think you could also take from the show that if a guy has a account with them he must be a loser if they hadn't already closed it down. ...............................................................................
But sure we all knew that its the losers bookmakers as the only offer I ever hear them offer is your OWN money back when you back a particular loser :(
What price did they paid out on King Bastion 12/1 what was Betfair S/P 210/1?
Ah yeah but didn't they guarnteed the 12/1 . :^0
LETS ALL JUST BE GRATEFULL PADDYS ISN'T MANAGER OF OUR LOCAL DUNNE STORES....Cheers

Just to echo some of that. This is meant to be their master PR guy. Ppl who bet occasionally even regularly are absolutly shocked with the notion of closed accounts, they dont even believe it could happen and they believe it has to be illegal in some way. Now that ppl know it actually happens and Paddy Power, and many listening wud fully believe this is the guy who started runs the whole place, fully condones it will be disgusted. Worst PR ever!!

Taxi driver on the way home from town .... usual small talk going to leop 2moro etc .... he then said to me "did you hear that guy on liveline today from piddy p0wer". I said no ..... He said that pp closed all accounts of winning punters. Now I didn't hear the show, but that's the talk going around with your occasional punters.

I didnt listen to the show but why did Paddy go on the show on the first place? Was he replying to a disgruntled punter who rang Joe complaining or did he think he would get some handy publicity? For a firm who normally are very astute when it comes to PR this seems like a massive own goal. Expect a load of offers in shops and online now as a face saving exercise.

He was on the show to respond to a guy who was 15k ahead, and had his accounts closed.
Cue calls from family members of other degenerates who had lost more than that, and were let bet away to their heart's content.

Have to say though, only halfway through listening but I would have loved to ring in to defend Paddy a little. Seriously, no messing. Some of them on here (regardless of results) ought to get over it and move on FFS. Funny though :D
BTW youre man that won 15k, did Bless not tell him Betfair have better odds no? Head in hands man..

Just getting to the women bit here, having a great laugh with the lads, we were actually thinking what she said before she said. Shes the only one speaking sense FFS.. if people lose its hardly PPs fault.

I may have to add the Paul Sheridan bit to my al time classics, up there with "man falling on the ice on the news." That good! :^0
Paul Sheridans in the shop, Paul Sheridan in the shop, dont take his bets..
"Did you tell them your name?"
No.
:^0

In fairness to Sheridan he was in the penalty area if not quite hitting between the posts. If his presentation of the questions might not have been the best. But if you were on the radio for the first time facing a PR machine such as paddy you mind probably get a bit scrambled as well when asking a question and trying to pin a guy down for a direct answer.
Anyway as I said he wasn't far off the mark.
paddy did say in his answer.
1..They do have closed circuit TV at all their counters. 2..They do know the faces of successfull gamblers. 3..They do move their staff around who would grow to reconize successfull faces as well.
While they didn't have face recognition on the CC TV you wouldn't bet too much that when a shop rings up Tallaght headquarters with a large cash bet. The guy in the trading room if he was near a TV would give it a peep to see who was placing the bet. ;) (I would, wouldn't you,)
Likewise there's isn't face regonition facilties on these CC yet. But apparently the makers are working on it for the future according to the BBC. So in all honestly do you think if that spyware was available for CC camera's in the future paddy wouldn't use it? :0
As I said that chap was in the penalty area with his question and congradulate him for been brave enough to come on the Radio to take paddy on but he just didn't quite hit the sweet spot with his kick on whether he was been spied on.........Cheers

not sure its cctv that this guy is recognised from. more likely a photo copy of his bets are emailed around, a quick glance amd youve got your man. thats the way it works for the slow counters anyways.

Rule 4, That could be part of it......Don't know what DOYLER is going on about. :0
Sheridan was in the penalty area he just didn't see the free man. ie, he couldn't get his thoughts together quick enough....
Understandable if your live on a Radio show against Mr PR himself. B-)

Its embarassing to listen to him on the podcast. "The man in the Street".....I suppose he means drunken mugs by this. Imho, no bookie should refuse a punter a price just because he is successful. I can understand a bookie only taking a partial part of a bet from time to time, but there is no reason to refuse a punter winning or losing if the price is available. Whats the difference in laying a price to a mug punter or a shrewd one. You have laid the price so it will cost you either way.

to be fair, you only get refused in shops on each ways
on wins they'll lay away in shops, but on the phones a quick check of the bf price answers the question, Ladbreaks might lay you a tenner just to show they haven't refused you if it matches or undercuts the bf price
