His Aer Lingus shareholding is a drop in the ocean compared to the cash on RYA balance sheet and was purchased at a much lower level than the idiot pilots who piled in at 3.20as a defensive tactic.

I don't trust him. I buy a couple of scratch cards every time I fly on RyanAir. I have yet to win a farthing and I've bought plenty of them.

Would you want to have to be treated for a serious illness in a hospital run by O'Leary. I think some are confusing a talent for extracting money from people with a talent for providing a quality service.

Its a brilliantly run company and we should be very proud of it How many other world class organisations has this country produced in the last 15 years? Or ever, for that matter.

Flew Cityjet to London City airport recently and it was a joy to be reminded that flying can, in fact, be a somewhat pleasant experience. I'd almost forgotten.
looked quite unwell on tonights news...like an ill man or someone under extreme pressure...

Absolute tripe. Ryanair have completely revolutionised European aviation and if it wasn't for them you would still be paying through the nose for a rubbish service from Aer Lingus and talking about how delighted you were that you got a 'free' cup of tea. They are still sticking it to their competitors on a regular basis. Every time you fly anywhere in Europe just think about what it would cost you if there was no Ryanair.
As regards your statement about a crash, I'd love to hear your logic there. A Ryanair plane has never crashed. Don't confuse speed in flight turnarounds with a lack of dedication, skill or efficiency.
To give an example of how well run Ryanair are, I was flying from Gatwick to Shannon just before Christmas. It had snowed, and plenty of flights had been cancelled, including every easyjet flight before midday (about 35). Easyjet are roughly comparable with Ryanair, as they are both decent sized European airlines. but when you compare their CEO's Stelios looks like a rich kid playing with planes. Anyway, instead on cancelling flights that day, Ryanair simply got on with it, caught up over the course of the day, and my flight left on time at 9:45pm. Easyjet continued to cancel flights and all their customers got was a record message over the pa; 'Easyjet flight xxxx to xxxx has been cancelled. Please go home and rebook on easyjet.com'. The difference between the two companies was very evident that day.
For the guy who compared the cityjet London city experience to Ryanair, you are not comparing like with like. They are totally different products and this is borne out in the price.
A lot of hero worship on here tonight! Simple truth is that your great god would drive over the lot of ye if there was a Euro or two to be made.

I booked about 3 weeks in advance, CityJet return was 19 euro dearer. Taking into account the expense of getting from Gatwick to City Centre vs City Airport, I actually went the cheaper route and I was in the city centre quicker. I got treated like a customer and not an inconvenience. I can check in at the airport if I choose and it doesn't cost me anything. I could make a long list of the reasons that I preferred this route.
It's also refreshing to book flights online and get the total cost up front, no hidden extras, you can see the bottom line right away. Ryanair have become somewhat disingenuous with their prices.
Looking at prices for the weekend of Feb 5th to Feb 7th, similar story. We can't all book 9 months in advance and travel midweek at 06:00.
I'm not knocking all that Ryanair have achieved, they've revolutionised short-haul travel but I continue to look for alternatives whenever possible.

LOL to your last point irishlad. In fairness he wouldn't charge 64 quid or whatever it is to go from Dublin to Cork in 3.5 hours. You should be obliged to take your rubbish off the train too.
Book it online EMI Costs 10 or 20 depending on what times you go massive savings to be made.

He was on the ball on the last word tonight saying the government are the biggest jokers of the lot. The entire countrys air traffic system grinds to a halt and what does the minister for transport say....we would hope both parties can get around the negotiating table. The trains look to be a dead duck now, especially given that there are buses from Galway to Dublin for 1 and the trains cost 50 and takes longer. Plus I'm told you get free wi-fi on the bus. This country just isn't big enough to support a commercially viable, high speed, high frequency national rail service.

Getting free wifi on the trains, or at least wifi, is something Irish Rail really should have embraced by now.
