Still some snow on the ground in places around Leopardstown that hasn't melted since it fell before New Year. What are the chances of the meeting being on do people reckon?

Don't know to be honest, suppose the next few days are crucial, we really need the temperature's to pick up. Still some snow/frost in my garden a 10 minute drive from the track and the paths and roads are still pretty slippy although have improved greatly since yesterday.

Mid range forecast isn't very optimistic.

Jeez there was a good thaw yesterday. They would have every chance unless the weather turns South again. I live right beside the track and any grass the sun got at the snow is long gone

Hope so. Love to have a last crack at Prospero - have a lovely 33/1 shot lined up.

;-)

Think I'll ring a bomb scare through to Leopardstown in the event that racing goes ahead!

C.D. you might be able to beat the one in front of you but it is the 4 or 5 behind you that you should be worried about. ;)

Fluke more like. Though he'd hate the ground but was worth a shot at the price.

Leopardstown Racecourse Ground report issued at 9.00am on Tuesday 5th January: Following a severe overnight frost plus a light dusting of snow the course is not raceable at present - Ground- "Heavy" Weather forecast: Cold spell expected to continue into next week
Report closure January 5, 2010 12:19 PM GMT
They are right there. Last night was by far and away the worst frost in many a year in the Leopardstown area. It was vicious. That said the sun is blazing down again all day and it is a nonsense statement to say the ground is not currently raceable.

However it must start to take a toll on the grass eventually if it continues.

PROSPECTS of Leopardstown meeting on Sunday, featuring the €60,000 MCR Hurdle, taking place are under threat given the bleak forecast for the remainder of the week.

The field for the 2m handicap was reduced to 32 possible runners on Tuesday when conditions at the track were described as "unraceable".
