Breffni departing The Apprentice, The World Cup Hard Luck Story, Now JEDWARD.

All this on top of the appalling economic state of the country. Have we nothing left to look forward too?

We are a defeated nation. Maybe we should the Brits will let us back in the United Kingdom.

At least we'd have a World Cup to look forward too.

We beat Fiji , whoop dee doo .

Bad week all round , not a soccer fan , but great performance in France , ruined by the hand of frog . Hard to take such unfair exit , with all the official crocodile French tears . The genuine French fans and a few notables did act with a bit of Gallic elan in calling for a re-match , but the bean counters in charge have all done their sums and France are bigger than Ireland soccer wise , so no chance .

If the boot had been on the other foot ...might have been interesting . Just stop eating lescargot and shaving with Gillet*e --only way to register a protest .

And Rory was only second in the Race to Dubai --with Padraig close behind , maybe that lifts the gloom a bit too ( there were 54 behind them ) .

Always look on the bright side of life --da doom , da doom .

Biodiesel -as a matter of fact I do have a problem with your claim that you're
''proud to be Irish''. One can only be proud of an achievement .
Being ''Irish'' -leaving aside the complexities of this kind of label-- is an accident of birth in which you were entirely passive and is plainly not an achievement.
Accordingly , your claim is a patent absurdity and an affront to logic.
It makes as much sense as saying that you're proud of having blue eyes. :D

I reckon the weeks during the famine may have been a bit tougher. But I could be wrong.

I'm not getting into the argument of whether or not we have much to be proud of but I always understood the term "proud to be Irish" related to pride in the "achievements" of Irish people....
