I thought kearney was MOM but the focus is sexton or rog, sexton is the future rog is the man if a vital game was tomorrow, i would play sexton next week and throw him in the deep end to see how he would do.

had a great game alright.he should start next week but wont. we know what ROG can do at this stage so kidney should let sexton at the boks.that would be a real test for him

If we were in a World Cup Final next week....I would still pick Sexton. Streets ahead of o'Gara in every aspect of the game; it's not even close. I hope Kidney doesn't bottle it.

I see he is cashing in and moving on, will b a big loss to Leinster
Jonathan Sexton is to sign for Racing Metro after rejecting a new contract offer from the IRFU. It is believed that he will take up a two-year contract with the French club. The Leinster out-half is likely to move to the Paris club, who are reported to have offered over €750,000 to secure his services. The IRFU contract offer is understood to have been in the region of €450,000. "He has added tremendous value to the Leinster environment both on and off the field" - Joe Schmidt The 27-year-old is the first high-profile player to leave an Irish province since Tommy Bowe left Ulster for the Ospreys. The move is a blow for Leinster, who last week crashed out of the Heineken Cup, and for the IRFU, which recently launched a new strategy aimed at ensuring the provinces retain the best Irish qualified talent. It is a coup for Racing, who have captured one of the top talents in Europe as he enters his prime. The club has invested heavily under billionaire owner Jacky Lorenzetti. A new coaching ticket of Laurent Labit and Laurent Travers will take over next season. Sexton could miss out on playing in the Heineken Cup rugby next year as Racing are currently in ninth position in the Top 14, though they are still within striking distance of the top six. Sexton is considered the front-runner to start at out-half for the Lions when they tour Australia this summer and has taken a firm grip on the starting out-half role for Ireland. The move to Racing Metro will not necessarily affect his chances of playing for Ireland. But Ireland will have less access to Sexton and will only have access to his services during IRB stipulated windows, while the number of matches he appears in at club level will not be controlled centrally.

Wow! That's a bombshell didn't see that coming. Huge blow for Leinster, who next?
I suppose at his age he still has scope to return to Ireland towards the end of his career and take advantage of the tax breaks.
I can't say I blame him. The delights of Paris would be a huge draw. When I lived in Paris, I almost played for Racing myself a long time ago, back in the amateur days when they were in the doldrums and languishing in the second division. I ended up at another Parisian club instead, also Division 2. Racing have the most magnificent heritage.

Definitely dont blame him, brilliant offer that is impossible to turn down!
Madigan up the pecking order now which will b good for his progress and finally help him jump above ROG on the irish set up, will they get some1 in to cover? Or just use Nacewa at 10 wen he is out and rely on youth comin thru ?

Good point about Madigan...I hope they give him the shirt. They have that utility guy, New Zealender? whose name escapes me, who I believe can also kick goals. McFadden may also be a more reliable goal kicking option, with Madigan at 10.
It raises a question about Schmidt's future, doesn't it? Was Sexton not on record that he would stay because he wanted to continue working with Schmidt. This is Decco's last hurrah, so that potentially opens up a position for Schmidt at international level.

I think Schmidt will be returning to New Zealand at the end of NEXT season. His youngster will be doing his Leaving Cert in 2014. A natural break for Schmidt.

Speaking ahead of Leinster’s Rabo Direct playoff game against Glasgow, Jonny Sexton claims he’d still be a Leinster player next year if the province had sat down and talked to him. Next season, Irish rugby will lose one its star player as Jonny Sexton swaps the blue and white of Leinster for the blue and white of Racing Metro in a move that will see him become the highest paid player in France. However, according to the exciting out-half this all could have been avoided as he told The Irish Examiner: “Leinster still is a massive part of my life, not just my career but my personal life as well,” “A lot of my best friends are guys that I have been playing rugby with since I was 15 or 16. It was never between me and Leinster. “If me and Leinster sat down I’m sure I would be there next year but that’s not the way it works.” “That’s unfortunate but, listen, once these next three (Leinster) games are finished and the small matter of a Lions tour is over, I can start to get excited about a new challenge in my life.” “The club have been great in helping me get organised. I know a good few of the players and it’s very exciting the quality of players they have signed for next year.” “There’s a lot of English-speaking guys which will help me settle in, but I am determined to make an impression on the French guys as well.” With Sexton Paris bound Leinster’s outhalf responsibilities lie in one of Ireland’s most exciting prospect, Ian Madigan. In recent week’s he has been lining up outside Sexton, at first centre, and many are wondering could such a partnership work for the Irish team in the future rather than having both player’s fighting for one position. Sexton is among a number of backs set to leave Leinster this summer with Isa Nacewa, Andrew Conway and Fionn Carr all set to leave the RDS.
