ZENYATTA IMPRESSES IN CLASSIC WORKOUT 2nd Nov 2009
AMERICAN star filly Zenyatta produced a sparkling final workout ahead of Saturday's Breeders' Cup Classic, registering an impressive time of 1m 12.4s over six furlongs at Hollywood Park on Sunday.
Regular rider Mike Smith was aboard for the gallop, which saw Zenyatta draw five lengths ahead of her work companion Green Cat in the stretch.
The five-year-old daughter of Street Cry, unbeaten in a 13 race career which includes the 2008 Ladies' Classic, is set to line up against Rip Van Winkle in a mouthwatering clash for Saturday's feature event.

ZENYATTA, who is set to take on males for the first time in her career after defeating fillies and mares in her 13 starts to date, worked on the all-weather at Hollywood Park on Saturday.
In what was her final serious work before theBreeders' Cup, she breezed an easy six furlongs in 1min 12.40 secs.
Regular rider Mike Smith was up on Zenyatta as the pair came out onto the track at about 9am following the work break. She worked in company and easily went by her stablemate (ridden by Steve Willard, who usually gallops Zenyatta) in the straight, then galloped out strongly over about a mile.
Hall of Fame rider Gary Stevens, commenting for HRTV which televised the work, said of the move: "Id' have to say it's definitely the Classic given what I just saw."
