The first race the marathon, do u think man of iron will stay the trip, on breeding u would think not, but im thinking if he is held up of a strong pace, could finish well.

Really cant see beyond Mastery in the 1st personally- good form in the book!

US dont really have staying races do they? So will more than likely be dominated with a European 1-2-3 imo with Man of Iron in with a solid shout to be there abouts imo
Report ACE KICKER November 6, 2009 5:10 PM GMT
on rating with the english horses he's booked for 4th but these races never work out, a place would be a good result.

Wat about the ex lyons elusive galaxy? According to the new trainer was too free on first american start and will be held back today. few lengths to get back on lillie but the fast ground should suit

Filly & Mare looks a tight contest . Looked through the form and there's very little between them ...much may hang on the pace and luck in running .
Have decided to go with Visit 2 pt. win -4 pt place..
Very consistent , strong finisher.
Report BJG November 6, 2009 9:16 PM GMT
Just gone with a straight win on Midday, would nt be surprised to see a big priced winner though :|
Report Vubiant November 6, 2009 9:20 PM GMT
Would be delighted if Midday did it for Henry Cecil -great trainer who would richly merit a Breeders Cup winner on his CV.

Think the lasix helped . Great ride by Tom Queally , scraped paint all the way . Ground seems to be faster near rail , not just for the winner .

Ventura best horse in the race for me -credit to the winner but Ventura definitely unlucky there . Made up four lengths in a final stretch surge .

For a horse that has finished close to Zenyatta and ahead of Cocoa Beach and Life Is Sweet , Lethal Heat looks a big price to place and I'll have a little interest .
Again a very competitive event with lots of conflicting collateral form.

Report downallstar November 7, 2009 5:52 PM GMT
Awful stuff from Johnny there. :(

Small stakes mostly for a bit of fun GS.
Report Vubiant November 7, 2009 5:56 PM GMT
Horse dwelt in stalls -what could Johnny do ?
Arguably VN might have won with a level break when you look at relative distances from the winner after a furlong and at the end.
Funny how often O'Brien's runners have screwed up the start in the US.
Report Giant Strides November 7, 2009 5:59 PM GMT
Sorry lads. That happens too often for it to be coincidence. If he wants to improve his strike rate over there they have to hit the gate running not walking.
Report downallstar November 7, 2009 6:02 PM GMT
Horse did come out slow, but Johnny should have tried to make up the gap, esp as it was a crawl of a pace, he didnt even move on the horse. Very poor.
Report sinndar001 November 7, 2009 6:05 PM GMT
There's no one like Frankie. Horse racing couldn't wish for a better advertisment and is very lucky to have him. Damn shame he is riding crap for godolphin and has to sit back while the camel rides some of them aswell.
Report ACE KICKER November 7, 2009 6:12 PM GMT
yes jonny should hav made up the ground instantly, they went a crawl, maybe his clock was wrong on the speed of the race. Very bad.
Report downallstar November 7, 2009 7:27 PM GMT
Am worried about mcm and the break, VN and Zen both slow away and lost, though both jockeys esp the yank could've done better. ATr right to slate the yank.

Report ACE KICKER November 7, 2009 7:58 PM GMT
murtagh is a rite goat, totally wrecked beethoven at the first bend, he would hav went very close only for that. Talk about shooting ur stable in the foot.

Report ACE KICKER November 7, 2009 8:09 PM GMT

Report Giant Strides November 7, 2009 8:55 PM GMT
Quality stat there on the RUK feed. Apparently O`Brien trained 2002 Mile WINNER Landseer!
Report moneypenny November 7, 2009 9:01 PM GMT
broke down in the race didnt it
Report General Idea November 7, 2009 9:03 PM GMT
Did Landseer not break a leg in that race, and the Rock just failed to get up from an impossible position.
Report Giant Strides November 7, 2009 9:06 PM GMT
Exactly. Poor taste.

hit 1.21 in-running
Report gentlemanjohn November 7, 2009 9:21 PM GMT
Mastercraftsman went from 1.2 to 1000 almost in an instant. Not sure the gap was there
Report Kelly November 7, 2009 9:30 PM GMT
Wonder who was willing to bet 1/5 ? The horse has to my knowledge never displayed an instant turn of foot , which is what it needed to exploit a very temporary gap . Just one of those racing situations .
Report Distant View November 7, 2009 9:31 PM GMT
A bit of research needed on here by the looks of things, before people criticise the American stats and comments on a horse.

They said Landseer won the 2002 Shadwell Turf Mile and NOT the Breeders Cup Mile.

The Shadwell Turf Mile is run at Keenland and Landseer did win it.
Report Giant Strides November 7, 2009 9:35 PM GMT
My apologies. It did say that and you are correct. Although what that stat had to do with anything tonight is beyond me and it`s the reason why it threw me.
Report Distant View November 7, 2009 9:40 PM GMT
Probably pointing out that Aidan has trained a winner of a significant Mile race in the States, as Weld gets far too much credit for his American raids compared to Ballydoyle.

No relevance in relation to a dirt mile race (that is not on dirt!).
Report Vubiant November 7, 2009 11:06 PM GMT
As anti-climaxes go -this BC has to be right up there for Ballydoyle .
One scraped win in a marginal race . We thought it portended a triumphant campaign but the wheels came off one by one .
Ah well -roll on St. Nicholas Abbey for 2010.
Report Giant Strides November 7, 2009 11:10 PM GMT
"We haven`t come here with a horse of this calibre before"
!
Exactly what calibre do you speak of Aidan?
Report Vubiant November 7, 2009 11:12 PM GMT
RVW was the first horse beaten and ran as if something was amiss.
Very strange .
Report Kelly November 7, 2009 11:13 PM GMT
Zenyatta !

Superb performance especially after the messing at the start .

Rip was very poor . I backed thim the first time he ran , think he got the race on a disqualification at 3/1 . Never considered ever backing the horse again . Did not share connections enthusiasm about the horse ( ever ) .

See the Stars would have won the Turf race easily . But like his connections I would not have run him in the Classic .

Reckon most of the winners were on Lasix . Nuff said , even if some of them are excellent horses .
Report Giant Strides November 7, 2009 11:22 PM GMT
She might not be able to walk but she can certainly run!
Basically the bottom line after tonight is steer clear of his animals over there.
When will he realise all those animals that were starring for him in the early noughties, were better than all those he`s hyped up since.
Hope you won a few quid lads. Night.
Report downallstar November 7, 2009 11:28 PM GMT
The performance of Zenyatta was amazing.
But I agree the whole Balloydoyle effort tonight was poor.
Mcm should have won! Rip was too bad to be true, Johnny had a mare!

Lasix all the way next years!
Report dasium November 8, 2009 12:27 AM GMT
next year its on dirt... europeans won't travel in the numbers they did the last 2years because of the polytrack...
