Notre Pere 5/2 ?:| Think he'll win, be bigger elsewhere though?
Report soapp November 3, 2009 5:20 PM GMT
Ruby expected to ride at Badger Ale meeting for local trainer Paul Nicholls. Celestial Halo runner up in the Champion Hurdle is expected to resume.

C Williams I suppose will ride My will.

It would be great to see NP compete sucessfully at the top table.

Dreaper needs another show stopper.

Brings back the memories of Carvills Hill and Ken Morgan.

Think Seigemaster goes for the Grade 2 chase on the card. Hope Schindlers Hunt runs here, big chance!
Report downallstar November 4, 2009 8:06 AM GMT
Depends on the going COM, think if its heavy Schindlers doesn't run, and Siege will be switched to the G1.

Report Kalanisi November 4, 2009 9:34 PM GMT
Serious rain up here in the North this afternoon & evening.

Trends for the race:

Age (Win-Place-Runners)
6yo: 1-1-4
7yo: 1-2-11
8yo: 4-2-13
9yo: 1-0-13
10yo: 2-1-7
11yo+: 0-3-7

8 and 10 year olds have the best record having won 6 of the 9 runnings from less than 40% of the runners.

Recent/Past Form
8 of 9 winners finished in the first 2 last time out
5 of 9 winners were having their first run over fences that season
4 of 9 winners ran in the Munster National last time out
7 of 9 winners had won over 3M+ (exceptions were Taranis 2007, who won the Ryanair over 2M 5F & had never run over 3M+, and Glenelly Gale who had finished 2nd in 3M Munster National on previous start)
8 of 9 winners had won a grade 1 or 2 chase (exception was Glenelly Gale in 2003, who won a 4 runner sub-standard renewal)

Other Races
Munster National winner: 115 (2-0-3)
Punchestown Gold Cup winner: 5412 (1-1-4)
Highest placed finisher in Cheltenham Gold Cup: 113242U1 (3-2-8)
The last 3 winners had run at Aintree in April (2 in Totesport Bowl and 1 in Melling Chase).

Trainers
Paul Nicholls (2-1-3) has gained 2 wins and a second from his 3 runners in this race.
Mouse Morris (1-1-3) saddled Foxchapel King to win the race in 2001 and had War Of Attrition finish runner-up in 2006.
Willie Mullins (1-0-5) won the first running of the race in 1999 with Florida Pearl but his last 4 runners have all been unplaced.

Price
7 of 9 winners (last 4) came from the first 3 in the betting
More Than A Strolls win at 20/1 in 2002 was the only major shock in the last 10 years.
Favourites (5-2-10) have won 5 of the 9 running of this but only show a level stakes profit of 0.03.

Summary:
Based on the trends from the past 10 years you are looking for a horse:

· Aged 8 or 10
· Having seasonal debut over fences or ran in Munster National last time
· Won a grade 1 or 2 chase
· Won over 3M+
· Highest placed finisher in the Cheltenham Gold Cup to run in this
· From the first 3 in the betting
· Trained by Paul Nicholls or Mouse Morris
