I'm sure most couldn't care less that purple will disappear into the history books after today, but they do give provide another option especially when BF have IT issues. So its a shame to see them getting swallowed up by MB and for very little benefit to show for it.
It is one of life's mysteries, why purple never took off and never took advantage of BF when the premium charges were first introduced. Not matter how many own goals BF conceded, Purple barely got stronger.
Even when BF is down, the inrunning over there is virtually non existent as the bots don't come out to play.
Maybe it would be an ironic ending, for as many users to just use Purple for the 8:30 @ Kempton, pre race and inrunning.
The Losers on BF (at least 98% of customers) had no incentive to go to BD as they were never going to face PC. BF got in first and it's as simple as that

freddiewilliams -- I don't know why MB bought BD but the usual reasons for takeovers include:-
To gain BD customers.
To gain BD technology or other assets.
To remove a competitor from the market.
From what little I've heard, the third seems most likely, but that's a guess.

On a previous purple thread, someone mentioned that purple were losing money and I guess they had to cash their chips in. MB offer nothing for the inrunning player, their website is similar to BF's, its fine if you want to bet/lay pre race, but you couldn't be using their interface to try and bet their own bots who must hoover up anything that's the wrong price at that time.

Absolutely, it's basic human nature, not just here but in all aspects of life, people moan but do nothing about it, whenever there is a downtime like on Grand National day a few years back we all moaned but as soon as it was back, so were we. Getting an organised walk out that everyone complies with is practically impossible, it's why the Glazers will only f00k off when they're good and ready.

Seemed to be even more of an in-house cheat system than other exchanges (maybe just more noticeable due to lack of money on site)...
joins the other greats such as Play2Match (eurobet-coral) and sporting options...the less said about those the better...

Some good lads worked at **** at the start they were very good at looking after you ,for two years they had a box on the rowley mile which I was lucky enough to be invited to whenever I was going ,I never understood how they couldn’t compete with betfair as this lot has never done anyone a favour,

BF were very good in the early days so I totally disagree with that..
it changed pretty rapidly when the ownership changed and plenty of people had days out on BF under it's original owners..

jimnast, Sporting Options were around roughly at the same time as betfair (november 2000) but didnt actually start up until 2002 and went bust a couple of years later.

I was definitely betting on an exchange before betfair Brentford but can never remember the name but sporting options sounded familiar, which ever one it was as a layer you had to lay to lose a minimum of £200 which in hindsight is probably why it didn’t last long.

I think it’s hard to be sure cuckoo unlikely the matchbook commission won’t rise and there’s must come a point when there are very few layers left but I have been saying that for at least 20 years

I am sorry that daq has gone. The customer service was good and never took long to get any problem resolved.
Was given a £1,000 month deposit limit after a while.
Never much liquidity Aussie racing but ok (for me ) once domestic racing started.
I only ever made one deposit on matchbook and it lasted about a month until they closed my account. I requested the reason why and was to check terms and conditions and under those terms it states 'they do not have to give reasons'.
I attempted to rejoin matchbook this week to see the response
They state as any easybet customer I cant belong to matchbook as well but they 'referred ' me to easybet without me asking them to do so and I never joined so maybe easybet are paying them commission for this.
