Any thoughts?

Tried this before, but it usually ends up the equivalent of talking to an empty room. Either people don't know know anything, or they don't want to share. I try and cram a season into two weeks, and it's worked pretty well the last two years, so I am probably due a failure. So far I haven't spied too many at double figures.

Latest news is that Ombudsman may end up in the Turf. He looks a class above, but it's an extra two furlongs and an after thought. Likely odds on if he turns up so not for me. It was on the cards with the market move, but very disappointed that Amusingly will be travelling. No way to prep a potential Classic winner. How many Classic winners have come via the Breeders Cup? I would suspect very few. I wonder why Unibet took down their markets on the first two French classics? Maybe they can put them back up again now? Oh for the old days when Boussac/Criterium winners were simply put away and it was either the usual Classic trial, or straight to the Pouliches or Poulains.

T O Password (5yo, Horse) and T O Elvis (4yo, Horse) also completed their final serious work, going together in company with race-day riders Kazushi Kimura and Ryusei Sakai aboard, respectively.

Trainer Daisuke Takayanagi said he was grateful to have two runners on such a major stage.

"It is a great honor to have two horses competing on a stage like this, and I'm grateful to the horses for getting us here," he said.

Of T O Elvis, Takayanagi added, "He won at Churchill Downs in April, and while I was confident in him, I didn't expect him to produce that kind of performance in such a different environment in America.

"We actually had a plan to go to Europe after Churchill Downs, but after he showed us that performance, I spoke with the owner and we decided that this year we should focus on producing results on dirt first and then think about the next step.

"He had originally been running over 1,200 meters on dirt in Japan, so we made this race the ultimate target.

"I did want to give him a prep, but if we had done that, he would have had to come back from Hokkaido during the hottest part of the summer. I was worried that could leave some damage and prevent him from producing his best performance in the Breeders' Cup, which was the real target, so we decided to point straight here.

"He was also coming off a layoff when he won the Churchill Downs Stakes, so that experience gave me confidence that he can handle a gap between races.

"He has already experienced the travel and the environment here through Churchill Downs, so everything has gone smoothly. Today was his final work and he went together with Password. He moved exactly the way we wanted and I thought he looked very good. "As for the draw, there is a strong horse, Englishman, two gate outside us, so ideally we can keep an eye on him. It is exciting to have a horse who will be well supported in the betting here in America, and that also gives us confidence."

Takayanagi also reflected on T O Password's return to the international stage.

"He took on the Kentucky Derby with very little experience and still produced that kind of performance, so even though we went there feeling our way through things, it gave us a tremendous amount of experience.

"After that, we discovered a fracture and had no choice but to give him time off. Things did not go completely smoothly after that either, so it took him a while to get back.

"Ever since the Kentucky Derby, I've wanted to come back and take on America again. We have always known he is a horse with real ability.

"In terms of ideal dirt distance, the Dirt Mile may suit him better, but we also didn't want him getting crowded, so we decided on the Classic.

"He has been in good condition since arriving and everything has gone smoothly. In his final work he went with T O Elvis. Elvis went out in front, but Password caught up from behind, and when he moved to the inside he actually looked even better.

"It has been two years since this jockey last rode him. I asked how he felt and he said the horse felt very good. His movement was excellent, and he also said he wants to take a real shot this time.

"To be honest, I would have preferred an outside draw. But this is racing, and we don't know how everyone will approach it until the gates open. We'll do everything we can to get a good result."
Report Delashay • October 31, 2026 8:01 PM GMT
Lord Fons (6yo, Horse) completed his work with race-day rider Kazuo Yokoyama aboard, while Lugal (6yo, Horse) was partnered by Fuma Izumiya and Ask Ikigomi (3yo, Horse) by assistant Kazuo Fujiwara for their final serious workouts over the main track.

Izumiya, who rode Lugal, said the 6-year-old had adapted quickly to his surroundings.

"I had been riding him on his own in the quarantine barn as well, but he has already traveled to Hong Kong, Dubai and Britain, so he is used to going overseas," Izumiya said.

"He has been calm, and I think he adjusted to the environment here very quickly.

"There are some differences in what the organizers require depending on the country, so there are things we have to adjust to, but as far as training goes he hasn't become overly keyed up. He has been able to do his usual work in a relaxed manner.

"Going left-handed has always been a slight issue for him, so we kept that in mind and worked on having him go smoothly right along the inside rail. Even after passing the wire, instead of slowing down he actually picked the pace up a little going into the turn, so I came away feeling there probably isn't too much to worry about.

"His condition has improved since the Sprinters Stakes before he left Japan, so I have no concerns there. As for the mile, he has won over 1,400 meters before, and a horse's ideal distance can change a little with age.

"Murphy, who will ride him in the race, has also said he likes the 1,600-meter distance and the draw, and he seems very confident, so I'll leave it to a top jockey.

"The surface isn't especially clay-heavy, but I think it may ride faster than people in Japan expect. He can change once he gets into a race atmosphere, so the key will be how calmly he can get into the gate. But he gets along extremely well with the lead horse and has been very settled, so I think things can go much more smoothly into race day than on some of his previous trips. We'll do our best, and I hope everyone will support him."

She was beaten a NK by the South African Mare Give Me Anoteer 22/1  in the EP Taylor Stakes. That ravens had a good bearing on the F&M turf in the past.

Diamond Rain Last years runner upper was behind them and her and She Feels Pretty  confirmed form from Woodbine into the F&M turf last year.

The Woodbine Mile won by Notable Speech last year and again this is another good pointer the the Breeders Cup.

He has never won here, Deterministic has won over further than the bare mile.

Probably the most difficult to work out next with the draw possibly the sticking point for a few. That said Soumi will know what is needed so perhaps Moore has chosen wrong drawn 2.
