just simply incredible what occurs in this racing game.

It's very unsurprising, I can't imagine a trainer wants one of his horses demoted so another horse in his yard with different ownership is awarded the race. Especially if the outcome is the one that was most likely briefed beforehand. I think it's called realpolitik.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Lirakali (FR), ridden by J.C. Gainford, placed second, and The Captain's Word, ridden by D.J. O'Keeffe, placed first, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J C Gainford stated that he followed The Captain's Word, back to the running rail after jumping the last hurdle. He further added that his mount had been in front at one point on the run to the line but was out battled. He also said Henry asked him to not push the issue as he was happy with the final result. D.J. O' Keeffe stated that he landed left at the back of the last hurdle and on returning to his racing line he was aware of the presence of Lirakali challenging on his inner. He concluded by stating that his mount was passed on the run to the line but fought back hard and in his opinion had gave the runner up a bmp after the last that skewed it sideways which had obviously cost it way more than 2 inches. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings as Henry was satisfied with the result. Furthermore, they were satisfied that no riding offence had occurred and they took no further action.
Did interference occur ....Yes Did interference cost the 2nd more that it was beat ....Yes Result Stands ![]() |

As Cider has said , it is completely down to the fact its the same trainer on both , which is appalling from the Irish stewards.
Also the favoured one won so it becomes an easier decision |

Personally, I don't feel it's all that controversial, just typical human nature. Nobody had an incentive to switch them, and I'm sure the owners of the second will be looked after. It's certainly not going to be appealed.
