Yes, I was a little surprised at that onlooker.
But not so much at its age but more because its last 6 or seven runs had seen it do nothing. Yet, less than two weeks after running down the field at it's beloved York, it glides in as favourite yesterday.
It must have been informed money making it favourite yesterday. Fair play to those who benefitted but backing horses with 7 poor ducks eggs in a row is usually the way to the poor house!!

Itlaaq on the 12th August 2018 was the last previous 12 year old to start fav and win a flat race, won at 5/2 for Serena Brotherton, won at Ripon two months earlier as well, in between those two wins, on the 10th August Time Medicean won at Brighton, also a 12 year old won at 7/4f.
