Asking for a friend who is partially sighted.
He backed Domonik calvert lewen first goalscorer in the Leeds v Newcastle game. But settled as a loser.
I thought in football betting, own goals do not count and it goes onto the next scorer?.

That is the general rule but have a look at the rules for whichever bookie your mate used.
For instance, here is Betfair Sportsbook:-

First/Last Goalscorer markets:
All bets placed on players that do not take part in the match will be void. Bets placed on players who take the pitch after the first goal is scored will be voided for First/Last Goalscorer purposes. Players will be deemed a participant for Last Goalscorer and Anytime Scorer markets should they enter the game at any point in 90 minutes play plus injury time.
Own goals do not count and will be ignored for settlement purposes
