Just saw that too - looks an interesting article for once, but behind paywall.

Could anyone please post it? Thanks in advance.

The Stewards did act but not in the way Seagal wanted.

I'm surprised he thinks that about Final Objective's win in the Flying Childers, because imo, from what they showed of the head-on, PJ McDonald was going for a gap that wasn't really there, and when James Doyle's mount went left, PJ's mount was lucky not to be brought down.

I think the stewards were correct not to ban Doyle, because his mount going left suddenly was not because of him riding in such a manner to cause that to happen.

Agreed entirely,George.
Sanders never did too much thinking when he rode and hasn't changed

At Doncaster, James Doyle didn't even get a ban for his winning ride on Final Objective in the Flying Childers Stakes, despite the fact that PJ McDonald was nearly brought down on In The Black. Quite clearly In The Black was denied a chance of winning the race through no fault of his own and he was beaten only two short heads for third place.

Has Segal even seen the head-on?

At most I'd say the gap was about 3/4s open and McDonald was trying to ride his mount into it.

uptheirons, I've just watched some of the coverage and seen that Sanders was calling for horses to be thrown out, but surprised he thought that in this instance, as imo if there was a jockey at fault, it was McDonald.

Poor rides every day, haven’t you noticed ?
Report pmbets September 15, 2026 3:07 PM BST
The big worry is these market drifts on a nhorse less than a minute before the off.We see a horse trading all day at say 15/8 then less than a min. before the off it drifts to 5/1.Almost everytime the horse runs the worst race you could imagine and most of the time comes unplaced.A few years ago that never happened. When you are on a minute before the off drifter you can see your money go up in smoke before the race is even off. There must be someone to takes charge of this and investigates these drifters/poor rides horses.

first time I've seen the head-on, Not Doyle's fault, very unlucky the grey, but when you have sprinters in a line pretty much going flat out, there are going to be incidents and hard luck stories of course - not for the faint hearted
