It's refreshing to read the negative comments on here and in the media about Coolmore & Aidan as I've been beating this drum for 20+ years!
I see Chris Cook in the RP has been 'brave' in putting the boot in finally regarding the role of G1 pacemakers.

I'm sick & tired of the constant media rímmíng of him about what a genius he is as I say it every season...he hasn't got a clue
95% of the time who his best 2yo & 3yo are in the Spring - you don't have to listen to him to establish that as all you have to
do is look at the SPs of so many G1 & Classic winners!

His numbers admittedly are outstanding...but it's like having five darts every throw - he cannot possibly fail!
The accolades are ridiculous...as if he was superior to Vincent, Cecil, Stoute etc. and remember we've been hearing this 'master
trainer' bóllóx for at least 15 years now and the half centuries of genuine expertise from the others are readily airbrushed from
the record books just because the numbers are greater, though NOT superior! INSANITY!Shocked

I've always said that perceived 'moderate' trainers would fare at least as good...so just imagine what any of those legends
above (and many more like Gosden, Cumani, Hern, Harwood, Haggas et al) would've done.
Look what Karl Burke has achieved recently with a bit of quality patronage? Who'd have thunk?Crazy
Richard Hannon Snr was very much overlooked for a long time...and I suspect there are many more like him - trainers who've
handled that rare rough diamond impeccably which they've been lucky enough to find instead of having a conveyor belt straight
from the breeding shed.

Coolmore has a permanent production line of the best bloodstock ever assembled in history and they still cannot get a single
horse over a solid three decades in the top 100 horses of the last 50 years!
Sorry fanboys...but res ipsa loqitur - the facts speak for themselves!Mischief
I had to throw that in as I backed the horse twice over 30yrs ago...and two winsGrin

Oh...just realised I'm wrong - Istabraq!Cool
AND please do NOT tell me Hawk Wing as ONE aberrant performance hugely inflated his 'level'Crazy
He would've been a yardstick for some of the proper 130+ performers of even the 90s who everyone seems to just dismiss
as 'journeymen' champions who danced every dance - Halling, Pilsudski, Daylami, Singspiel to name a few.

I've always qualified any criticism of Aidan by emphasising that it's not a personal critique as I genuinely like the
geezer and I've never seen any trainer be so generous with his time to MSM - it's just a pity that he's not worth
listening to as he talks utter shíté and ultimately, he rarely tells us anything...unless something slips out - you have
to read/listen between the lines to glean anything, or have a good memory.

AND please don't start me on what a pathological LIAR he undoubtedly is - I find it difficult to believe that 'the lads'
have him so compromised - they even called another 'wonder-horse' after what I suspect was for him the most persuasive factor...Fame & Glory!Mischief

One thing that has astonished me is how even Ryan Moore must've had a shótgún to his ear to rubber stamp & endorse the búllshít
which everyone can see - it's literal, textbook gaslighting!!

For a guy's who's understandably reticent with his MSM dealings as he's not a natural, call me Columbo but I suspect that stallion
rights percentage has a bearing on his thought process.

He's undoubtedly an all-time great whose G1 haul easily eclipses Piggott & Dettori but it's ALL about quantity - NOT quality.

I couldn't believe it when I saw the first symptoms of his condition (avarice) and he started to LIE for the team, effusing that
St.Mark's Basilica...then Luxembourg then Auguste RodENT then City Of Troy were the best he'd ever ridden!
It becomes embarrassing when he's hailing their latest 'Pegasus' in Constitution River - does your average punter realise that Coolmore's
'elite' are literally a stone off the true greats of the turf? Even way behind the four stellar globetrotters of the 90s I mentioned.

'Strangely' enough...the best recent pair SMB & CoT both didn't wanna stick around at 4yo and try to prove it...though to be fair to the operation,
they DO keep them around at 4 & 5yo - alas...that was a huge surprise if they did in the great 80's era!

What's even more annoying than the media is the average punter/pundit being well hoisted up their ársés and echoing all that bóllóx.
It's like people on their ársé & life's no-hopers/also rans having even a shred of confidence in these thieving scúm politicians!
ALL of them with zero exceptions! Angry
It's clichéd but SO true...they ARE turkeys voting for Crustmas!

Anyone who disagrees...what price that both Aidan & Ryan are spouting the same shíté next year again...and that they won't get a performer
to reach an official 130?
Report Delashay September 14, 2026 4:25 PM BST

Even someone as dismissive as ME must sometimes take notice of their rumour mill
as when the money's down it does speak volumes so that's quite intuitive about Gstaad
though I couldn't trust what might seem to be an obvious target...especially as he's
got Breeders Cup Mile written all over him though I'll be shouting on Notable Speech.

So far it's been way off target with Albert Einstein but they MUST know - especially as
they will gallop him over his full trip at home...unlike the middle distance performers
when there must be plenty of guesswork - that's why I maintain the point about him as good
as playing bingo with the 10/12f 3yolds despite you disagreeing with it.

Nothing that Albert Einstein does in future would surprise me as pound for square inch
regarding column inches, I'd say only City Of Troy was as much hyped - it'd be advised not
to overlook him if he traded at double figures for any target...despite having poor form.

Is that really too much to ask?
Especially considering on paper, they are dominant with the top breeding operation in the world...and for decades!

Still waiting after 30 years so I'd give a reluctant nod of approval and appreciate brilliance as I always do when
I see one and I'll reiterate that the only proper champion he's had is a jumper!

AOB / Coolmore could only afford to do what they're doing as the production is free to use. Of course are expenses to facilitate this freebie however, the incomes from stallion fess, etc, exceed this many multiples.

But, breeding within (similarly with some ethnic groups) is never the greatest unless the stallions and mares are world-beaters which most are not eg no Dubawi, no Frankel, no Night Of Thunder, no Kingman, no Sea The Stars, no Siyouni, no etc. Also, other breeding outfits have progressed and outperformed them eg Godolphin, Juddmonte, Aga Khan, Shadwell, etc. These entities have better quality stallions and mares.

And, keeping all your eggs in one basket is never a wise business venture in any field esp horseracing / breeding.

How much longer can Coolmore stay competitive at the tracks and as a breeding entity with their shrinking quality of stallions and mares?
Report Herbie-53 September 14, 2026 5:16 PM BST
So why do you think they haven't got a gold-dust stallion? NO excuse as I see it!

Wootton Bassett was certainly promising and he didn't come through their ranks
being a son of a second division Godolphin stallion in Iffraaj!

They were unfortunate to lose him and all their eggs in the basket are now on Justify...
another import, non-Coolmore horse & their Great White Hope in his son City Of Troy.

I'd call that failure that they've had to look elsewhere, the ridiculous hype, bottomless
pit of money & numerous opportunities.

That said...I hope for the benefit of the sport they can unearth another Galileo and next

Christmas Day coughed before the St Leger on Saturday; Christmas Day ran like a dog in The Leger.Yesterday AOB disclosed some of his horses were affected by a 'low-grade' viral infection.

The infection that prevented Gstaad from running in the Jacques le Marois on 16th Aug and underperformed in the Prix du Moulin and yesterday's disclosure, could they be related? If so, why did AOB not disclose the infection earlier ie post Moulin's race or shut down the yard until blood tests were taken from every horse in the yard? Dela - you might just be onto something about that turn scuppering a possible US tilt at the BC Mile as it was
proffered as an excuse for his defeat at Ascot against Zeus Olympios (though he's no slouch) as another pair who
were obviously inferior to him also finished ahead and I did hear Maureen alluded to reservations about a bend,
which listening between the lines must cast a doubt on a very obvious target in The Foret on Arc day.

A turn gives the chance of a decent breather for a lesser horse, enabling a shot at a better one and as More Thunder
doesn't need one as he's resolute when he gets his head down, it's not playing to his strengths...though I wouldn't
be convinced just yet on the evidence of that one run, as well as defeat in last year's Foret, though he ran well to
be placed - incidentally he was the same distance behind Ten Bob Tony as he was when that fella astonished in the
Queen Anne, albeit on different ground & trip - probably why I gave him a mention before the race saying he'd win a
G1 when he had his optimum conditions...which I didn't believe were fast ground and a mile!Shocked

That's not to say they won't consider the BC Mile for More Thunder if all's well after Champions' Day, it might well
become a viable option.
Then it's on to Champions' Day (he's surpringly not entered for the Sprint...paving the way for his classy stablemate
Almeraq to seal a great season and become undisputed champion sprinter) but he's got QE2 & Champion Stakes entries!Shocked

So it's probably unlikely he'll tackle the BC Mile...but I hope he does as he CAN easily win a G1 over 6/7/8f.
Then again...Haggas is hardly a cavalier trainer as he does look after his horses so I wouldn't know what he has planned.

why did AOB not disclose the infection earlier ie post Moulin's race or shut down the yard until blood tests were taken from every horse in the yard? If memory served Hendo had a similar predicament ie some of his charges ran like sicked puppies. As such, he only ran a handful of horses.

Impossible that’s correct and you’d think that that would have been the case. I didn’t too wonder about Gasstd, but you know these stories have a purpose
They are put out with a means to an end.

It’s teeing up something for later the timing isn’t just plucked.

Delashay - my American, UK or Frech question was in response to;

'There’s one I wanna do in the turf but it’s not been priced'

Herbie  I’ll let you know, a jock has already been pencilled in and booked ;) a British jock.
If all goes well in its next race it’ll be onto the States.

I’m not sure that Haggas is one to target the breeders cup but I’d not fancy More Thunder there, he’s had a go at the G1’s with his optimum conditions and failed.

So remember that Aidan O’Brien has the full backing of Coolmore behind his every move, and yet in all that time only three of his horses have reached a rating of 130: the totally overrated Galileo, and the equally overrated Hawk Wing  although to be fair to Hawk Wing, he did produce one amazing performance that earned his rating, backed up by the clock and achieved on heavy ground. Meanwhile, Rip Van Winkle hit 130 after beating Paco Boy in the Sussex Stakes. He was the last Coolmore horse trained by O’Brien to reach 130 in his career.

So that’s three horses from thousands, which is a statement in itself. However, there is more information available which casts doubt on his brilliance — or alleged brilliance. While training for Godolphin, Saeed bin Suroor has trained four horses rated over 130 if you include Lammtarra, along with Daylami, Dubai Millenium and Daylami that’s right the amazing Saeed bin Suroor has trained more horses rated over 130.

Other trainers to have horses rated over 130 include Henry Cecil, John Gosden, William Haggas, Sir Michael Stoute, and probably others I have missed but none of them have the backing of a breeding empire like Coolmore.

George Washington  A fast ground horse sent out on a knee deep dirt track to win a race he’d never of won on fast.
Perhaps the start of running G1 horses into the ground literally. Sad

? You really think horses are machines? ffs. The previous poster said he only trained 3 horses that were rated 130 and higher, I've simply given a list of 9!

Timeform or International ratings.
Report MANUELPADILLAJNR September 15, 2026 5:29 PM BST
My post is factual official ratings nothing to do with Timeform or any AI inspired answers, I am afraid Tiger your totally and utterly incorrect
Report uptheirons September 15, 2026 5:31 PM BST
Timeform Ratings were always exagerated,TT.
However,to suggest that AOB has never trained 130+ Rated horses is utter stupidity (a daily occurrence on here)

Only the top three in your list and the three I actually mentioned ever reached 130 or more the rest never did
Report MANUELPADILLAJNR September 15, 2026 5:37 PM BST
Irons, not sure if your meaning me but just to clarify I said he trained three horses over 130, never once said he had not trained any, did say that he has trained three out of the thousands of horses he has had to reach 130 or more

Looking back if a horse isn’t seen as a stallion he’ll be treated like Gorgeous George was. Sad
