Native instinct 4.20 Carlisle yesterday surely should have been a non runner

Race 5 - 4:20pm .
THE DAVID ALLEN IT SOLUTIONS HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4)
Permission was given for NATIVE INSTINCT and GOLDEN STRIKE (IRE) to wear a red hood to the
start and go early to post and LORD CAPULET (IRE) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held into the start of this race and the participation of NATIVE INSTINCT, drawn 2,
ridden by Sam James. The rider and the Starter were interviewed and shown recordings of the start.
The Stewards considered that the gelding should be deemed to be a runner as there was no faulty
action of the starting stalls and NATIVE INSTINCT had anticipated the start as the start was effected,
resulting in the gelding wedging its nose between the bars of the starting gate and NATIVE INSTINCT
being slowly away.
Approximately 1½ furlongs out, VINCE LOMBARDI, unplaced, shifted left-handed for one hit, briefly
inconveniencing SON, placed second, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no
riding offence was involved.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that NATIVE INSTINCT, which started joint-favourite
and finished fourth, sustained a wound to its mouth.

None of them should be called non runners basically - it's just the stupid decision in the Derby that was completely and utterly wrong.

1.01 SHOULD HAVE BEEN A NON RUNNER

The rule is that if it is due to horse behaviour, not technical fault, it should be a runner - hence the Derby one should also have been a runner!
