This is his fourth overseas trip and this time he was able to travel with Sixpence, which helped a great deal. He worked on the track on Thursday and I thought the ground was very good and not as firm as we might have been expecting.

hard to tell what with slow run races then a sprint last 2f thats why i dont take any notice of times. saying soft yesterday but  good to soft possibly ?

Strauss completed his final workout on the circuit course. Trainer Ryo Takei said, "I think he went from around the 5F mark and covered the final furlong in under 12 seconds. The intention was to water significantly enough, earlier in the week, with the forecast weather to determine the ground to be no softer than good, for Sunday's card.
