I think some are forgetting that Gstaad was beaten by a horse (Dewhurst) not able to show his form this year.
Publish also threw the race away at Haydock. There is a lot of good fortune too with remaining unbeaten. Anyone in doubt now that Gstaad was AOB’s best and that Albert missing the Coventry was a smokescreen saying that his best wasn’t running?!  You can call me a conspiracy Merchant all that you want, but the form as a 2 year old and at 3 has shown it to be true. |

It’s true Gstaad raced too keenly in the Dewhurst but the division could have had more competition without a setback and a fatality.

Bow Echo has continued to look an outstanding miler. The only time his run was not impeded by other runners was in the guineas and he won as he liked. He has not met an outstanding older miler but are there any out there? Blue Bolt is the best filly over a mile. I can't quite see her beating the best colts but you never know.

If I was part of the decision makers about whether Bow Echo would run against Gstaad or not I'd insist AOB (Gstaad) did not use spoilers or pacesetters ie one on one, even in Ireland on suitable ground condition for both.
Bow Echo has nothing to prove against Gstaad; 3 wins against the same horse is evident enough. And, running a battalion to hinder or impede your main adversary is not sporting or horseracing. |

I watched Ravens Pass win in person at Santa Anita in 2008 at 13/1! My only time at the Breeders Cup. I had made up my mind that Ravens Pass would win over 10 furlongs as he had always seemed to find a mile too short. When he entered the paddock I said to my family, there is the winner. The Americans close by clearly saw no danger to Curlin and looked down their noses. As it turned out, Henrythenavigator proved the real danger and Curlin faded after taking the lead. Vintage day with Conduit and Goldikova also winning. We dined out at a nice restaurant in Pasadena that night.

Was a massive betting angle, probably one of the bigger ones historically that the markets hadn't properly factored the switch from dirt, and Curlin was far more likely to fail than not on the 'pro-ride'. In the same way european horses usually fail on dirt.

not the Parkway Grill by any chance Sageform? Money won abroad is 4 or 5 times sweeter than here. I won a few £ at SA 3 years ago and had a steak you could eat with a spoon it was so tender. Happy days. Fingers crossed i can get there once more b4 I am reduced to Class 6 fare on the TV

I am afraid that I don't see tactical riding as a highlight. Give me a fair race when we can all see which is the best. The 2000 Guineas was a fair fight but the other 2 encounters were not.

There'll be no 4th rematch between Bow Echo and Gstaad in the Jacque Le Marois next weekend. The latter sustained a cut in his hind leg during the Sussex Stakes when he was galloped into, according to AOB. As the cut was sufficiently deep a heavy dose of antibiotic was necessary which would take at least 14 days for it to clear.
The Sussex Stakes was on 29th July. The above 11 days post the race. Unbelievable! |

It’s not even close to conspiracy but more to do with transparency for the good of the sport, like if you’re given an invite to dinner and it says RSVP.

Bastille Day was July 14th it took until August 9/10th for news to surface to the public that Behrayna wasn’t right the day after the race.
That’s simply not good enough especially when the books have known and that’s shown on oddschecker. |

I hope Bow Echo goes to Le Marois this weekend - all being well - after a work gallop, and retires after - win or lose. The horse has run 6x, and won all 6.

I should most who enjoy racing would like to see him race at 4 as the likes of frankel,enable and harbinger who were all much better at 4 ,unlike the like of dancing brave and sea the stars who were packed off.

So would I. I think he's won the best and prestigious races over the distance. He's not comparable to Frankel however, he's the only horse since Frankel to have won the Guineas, SJP and Sussex. Many tried and even the Coolmore GP 1 battalions have been unable.
