I wasn't sure they'd call an enquiry after first look at head-on
Let alone amend the result
That outcome is not consistent will all recent precedents

Even Alex & Jamie on ATR are stunned at the demotion to 3rd - something not right with the decision

they all went a few yards left..non lost any momentum wotsoever..winner was holding them both.

I rarely bet on ATR Courses on the Flat I/R and didn't do so on any races at Ripon.
Just seen the thread and had a look at the finish on RP(no head on).
To say that I am surprised is an understatement

The most ridicolous stewards decision I have seen in years. Connections will surely appeal and must be long odds-on to win it.

I have watched the replay 10 times now and the result simply was not affected.

Sorry to say this, but are stewards generally now trying to do what so many others do in all walks of life? That is, trying to look busy and super clever? They have done the opposite here on both counts!

I will certainly continue to give Ripon a swerve after that

thornton didnt help anybody including lynch/alex understand it by saying he,d spoken to jock on 3rd who,d told him he deffo would have got the reult if he,d finished 2nd, how could he have been more impeeded/ effected than the 2nd, he was always finishing 3rd had it right off getting 2nd

this is the problem nowadays..in running is incredibly difficult..theres very little money in the boxes..every click is done at your overide..last 2f i struggle to win a fiver..incredible eh..gps/bot way ahead of you..only chance i have of a decent return is photo's and stewards..but if its apparent whats won there is 5 figs in the pink the instant it unsuspends..if its tightish and the slo mo comes on you cannot bet the winner even if you pre empt the horses dipping..someone 100% playing with no 1 sec delay..i seen the drift last furlong so didnt play on the photo but i put stewards thread up..then seen the head on and thort yes they have drifted but clear gap between them so wont change..so in effect the stewards have said if they kept in a straight line the winner would have most probably finished 3rd? what absolute and utter nonsense.

Just under 8 bags to the Wnr.Wonder if they'll appeal that result.

Possibly the worst DQ for a long while. I'm all for more amendments when horses are taken off their line but that was ridiculous. 1.01 to be changed on appeal.

Thornton says the stewards have had their say and that's final.   Maybe not for the owners of fptp.

Shocking decision. Gobsmacking. Also the sweep up to 1.49? adds a sour taste, imo.
Photo finishes decided on atomic measurement that look dead heats and now Stewards behaving like this?
Not a chance I'll bet on this post race stuff.
All sorts of shenanigans going on.
It's as random as roulette at worse odds.

Chris Cook:

Racing, if we care enough, provokes vivid emotion and some of it just has to be expressed. That's why I let out a howl of pain in my otherwise empty kitchen when the Ripon stewards crazily demoted Command The Stars (9-2) last night.

there was no sweep imo..it had been going over 15 mins and was obv complicated as 3 involved to interview..it was drifting all the last 5 mins..it was 1.4 a few mins before it susp..nothing untoward (imo)

and ive seen many stewards reports lately where they have said 'the winner did not improve its position as there was no contact and no horse lost any momentum'

what was any different last night?

Just seen it on ATR....the 2nd would never have won and if that's the case how would the third have won which didn't come off its racing line at all.

Possibly the worst stewarding decision i've ever seen.Anything above 1.05 to keep was Xmas

In the old days the photo finish was up in the stands on its own above the line, when the result was known a runner went along a walkway at the back of the stands down the stairs in to the crowd and went to the announcer, I did know the runner

I suppose the state of the Racing Post these days is summed up with this preceptive analysis

Command The Stars, down in trip, was produced with a winning run but as he edged his way to the front under a right-hand drive he carried his two nearest rivals off a true line and, with the winning margin so narrow, it was no great surprise that he was demoted

Dave Bellingham

Note to self -don't bother reading the analysis.

There are certain Courses where I do not get involved in Stewards Enquiries (Newcastle,Stratford and any Course that has Sean Parker sitting).
Ripon has joined the  list

wouldn't be surprised if there was skulduggery involved here, but nobody gives a fk so if there was it would never be uncovered.
