A very poor one. Small fields, slow pace, hold up rides, it happens too often. Sometimes they get out of jail, sometimes they don't. I think we need to remember it's still a rubbish ride even if they get lucky. Boudot stood out because he did it much less often than the others.
He was drawn 1 on the rail, it happens at Chantilly loads, also Barza was scrubbing a way out , it weren’t travelling when they quickened, head held to the left.
Horse been hyped.

It weren’t great but that happens at that track more than I like. Not a fav of mine over there.
The winner brought decent form, even if he was exposed with number of runs.
The mare Freddy Head was talking up last time and she didn’t run bad despite defeat.
She had the draw and Goyen the perfect spot.
The Aga lot were using the race as a marker for his ability.
Maybe a strong run 7f in soft in the Forret will be their aim.

Sunday 19 July 2026 at Chantilly – Prix Messidor (Gr. III): Silius’s day
The consistent Silius had to wait until his tenth attempt in a Group race to (finally) secure victory. A well-deserved win for the Wertheimer-trained horse, who nevertheless also benefited from the misfortunes of the favourite, Erdenali, who finished third.
There are races that leave you with regrets. This 2026 running of the Prix Messidor will undoubtedly leave the team behind the favourite, Erdenali, with regrets. The inside rail can sometimes be treacherous at the Chantilly racecourse.
This proved to be the case this Sunday for the Aga Khan Studs runner, who was facing older rivals for the first time whilst moving up a class. Quickly relegated to second-last on the inside, Mickaël Barzalona’s mount was never able to find a run at the right moment, finding himself boxed in with Silius on his outside. It was only sixty metres from the post that the resourceful Erdenali was finally able to be sent on his way… far too late. Being a moral victor brings no reward, but with a clear run down the straight, Francis-Henri Graffard’s charge would undoubtedly have won.
Once again, seeing the glass as half full or half empty is merely a matter of perspective, but the visual impression was certainly there. “It’s a nightmare scenario,” says Nemone Routh, manager of Aga Khan Studs. “We were hoping to see him win today and then probably give him a rest until the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (Gr. I) in September. He would certainly have won, given the reserves he had… We’ll discuss with his team what we’re going to do.”
Silius fully deserved his victory
Whilst Erdenali’s misfortunes stole the show, Christophe Ferland’s charge fully deserved his victory. Having finished in the placings several times at this level, Silius has been justly rewarded for his consistency on his return to 1,600 metres, having previously excelled over 1,400 metres. “We know the mile is a real challenge for him, but I was able to make the most of a brilliant run,” explained the winning jockey, Maxime Guyon. “I saved him as much as possible and was able to make my move quite late, with a burst of speed. I’m delighted because he’s been on the verge of a Group victory for quite some time. Admittedly, there was an unfortunate incident, as I saw Mickaël (Barzalona) come charging in very strongly on the inside as we approached the post. That’s racing…”
Having spent much of the race behind the leader Matauri Bay, Familly – who had been switched to a shorter distance for the occasion – held her own very well right to the finish, narrowly holding off Erdenali. A very satisfying second place for her trainer Christopher Head: “She runs very well. She has the right profile to compete in the EP Taylor Stakes (Gr. I) in Canada, although we’ll need to discuss that with her owner. So we shortened her distance to see just how fast she could go. Her jockey had good things to say about her and, given how the race unfolded, we’re pleased with the result.”
