Absolutely no need to be that  far back on the fav.

I suppose when you hand an easy lead out like that on fast ground you are asking for trouble.

Natasha Cookson is a great advert for amateur jockeys. Who in their right mind would give her a ride,let alone up on a horse

Winning rider was very accomplished in my opinion. Rode the race as it happened, rather than what was meant to happen.

It came second, the one which kept tabs won.

Fav put out at the back in last and lost. Too much asked of it. Jockey error.

Most struggle to stay in the saddle tbh……crazy to punt on them imv..

That was the difference, barstool. The rider of the jolly rode the race as she expected to happen. She had no idea how fast they were going, and relying on other amateurs to gauge the pace. These are races for degenerate gamblers generally, but from what I saw, the rider of the winner might get you an edge in similar races. Worth a second look if she is booked, anyway.

The fav is a one dimensional ride as anybody backing it should have known.

That is true uti, but a half decent rider would have realised they needed to go earlier, or they had no chance. Repeating myself, but she expected to be able to coast into the straight and then press the button and go past slowing rivals. Not really plausible when giving runners who haven't gone too quick in Catterick on fast going a double digit lengths start.

Whilst she is an Amateur there are certain minimum standards that should be expected.
It was an awful ride

She has ridden in over 50 races both flat and NH so she knows the game imho. I believe a ban would be justified.

shes an amateur in an amateurs race. i play golf. i play off 4 handicap. if i shoot 85 in the club competition this weekend, should i be banned ?

should luke littler be banned for missing 6 darts at a double ? should McIlroy be banned if he misses a 3 foot putt ?
an amateur in an amateurs race should not be banned for incompetance, otherwise they will all be banned eventually. i agree she misjudged the pace of the race and was probably on the best horse, but the best dont always win.

You either accept that it was an extremely poorly judged ride or you don't.
With 50 rides under he belt there could be no other outcome.

A while back Jack Hyde when he won @ Newcastle had a massive lead in front.
Don't think anyone got a ban,I could be wrong though.Don't look like they did.

i accept it was an ill judged ride. how many times have spencer and bowen held up horses in rear, finished best of them all and got beat. how many bans have they had for it ? the stewards are a bunch of mysogynistic twats

Luke Littler might miss treble 20 ten times in a row because the margin of error is so small. If he starts hitting the stage door then ban him as well.

Horses have just to be ridden to win, not by a nose, short head, head , neck or 5 lengths. There is a lot of scope to get the job done, on the best horse, as she was.

But she just made a horlix of it, hence the 10 days.

The question her defenders should answer is,would you be happy to back her on a horse you fancied.

i dont think cartmel was at all similar. she misjudged the winning post and stopped riding there. two completely different circumstances.

exactly freddie. in my first week i delivered a whole street of terraced houses to the wrong street. i got the numbers correct though . To err is to be human.

Worse than that isn't it, just amateurs. They should not be held to the same standard or expectation of competence as professional jocks. Different jurisdiction yes. but a professional in Ireland was let off for 'falling' off a horse that was about to win. Similar to that poor chap that got done for winning a race with a knackered horse clambering over a fence when he was the only runner left. They should only be educated and given advice unless their mount was obviously hooked.

Trainer confirmed the instructions and stated that in the first part of the race the ride accorded with the instructions, but in the final 3f she felt that the rider had let the winner and the second placed runners get too far ahead
