The race title is,for Amateur Riders
Report Tallywagger. July 15, 2026 2:20 PM BST
Absolutely no need to be that  far back on the fav.
Report barstool July 15, 2026 2:20 PM BST
I suppose when you hand an easy lead out like that on fast ground you are asking for trouble.
Report TameTheTiger July 15, 2026 2:22 PM BST
the one given the easy lead didnt win
Report PearlJames July 15, 2026 2:23 PM BST
Natasha Cookson is a great advert for amateur jockeys. Who in their right mind would give her a ride, let alone up on a horse
Report Cider July 15, 2026 2:27 PM BST
Winning rider was very accomplished in my opinion. Rode the race as it happened, rather than what was meant to happen.
Report barstool July 15, 2026 2:29 PM BST
It came second, the one which kept tabs won.

Fav put out at the back in last and lost. Too much asked of it. Jockey error.
Report formoftheace July 15, 2026 2:31 PM BST
Most struggle to stay in the saddle tbh……crazy to punt on them imv..
Report Cider July 15, 2026 2:35 PM BST
That was the difference, barstool. The rider of the jolly rode the race as she expected to happen. She had no idea how fast they were going, and relying on other amateurs to gauge the pace. These are races for degenerate gamblers generally, but from what I saw, the rider of the winner might get you an edge in similar races. Worth a second look if she is booked, anyway.
Report uptheirons July 15, 2026 2:36 PM BST
The fav is a one dimensional ride as anybody backing it should have known.
These type of races come with a wealth warning
Report Hugo-Hackenbush July 15, 2026 2:37 PM BST
shabba obv got the lot laying the fav..wd shabba Cool
Report Cider July 15, 2026 2:40 PM BST
That is true uti, but a half decent rider would have realised they needed to go earlier, or they had no chance. Repeating myself, but she expected to be able to coast into the straight and then press the button and go past slowing rivals. Not really plausible when giving runners who haven't gone too quick in Catterick on fast going a double digit lengths start.
Report workrider July 15, 2026 2:41 PM BST
Well said Cider in your 14.27 post spot on..
Report TameTheTiger July 15, 2026 2:41 PM BST
winner "kept tabs" in 3rd 15 lengths behind
Report Shaboombaby July 15, 2026 2:43 PM BST
Thanks HH but no just watched the race with no fiscal interest either way i generally dont back or lay 4/7 shots with some Clarissa Humping-Daly aboard.
Report Hugo-Hackenbush July 15, 2026 2:54 PM BST
wish i had a chance to lay shorties that cudnt win.

A 10 day ban for the jockey on the fav
Report TameTheTiger July 15, 2026 5:34 PM BST
do they ban pro footballers for missing a penalty ? very harsh this. shes an amateur ffs !
Report uptheirons July 15, 2026 5:38 PM BST
The ban was correct,TTT.
Whilst she is an Amateur there are certain minimum standards that should be expected.
It was an awful ride
Report Shaboombaby July 15, 2026 5:44 PM BST
She has ridden in over 50 races both flat and NH so she knows the game imho. I believe a ban would be justified.
Report TameTheTiger July 15, 2026 5:46 PM BST
shes an amateur in an amateurs race. i play golf. i play off 4 handicap. if i shoot 85 in the club competition this weekend, should i be banned ?
Report TameTheTiger July 15, 2026 5:49 PM BST
should luke littler be banned for missing 6 darts at a double ? should McIlroy be banned if he misses a 3 foot putt ?
an amateur in an amateurs race should not be banned for incompetance, otherwise they will all be banned eventually. i agree she misjudged the pace of the race and was probably on the best horse, but the best dont always win.
Report TameTheTiger July 15, 2026 5:50 PM BST
was greville banned on dancing brave ?
Report freddiewilliams July 15, 2026 5:50 PM BST
There is a god
Report uptheirons July 15, 2026 5:53 PM BST
You either accept that it was an extremely poorly judged ride or you don't.
With 50 rides under he belt there could be no other outcome.
I had no financial interest in the race
Report penzance July 15, 2026 5:54 PM BST
A while back Jack Hyde when he won @ Newcastle had a massive lead in front.
Don't think anyone got a ban,I could be wrong though.Don't look like they did.
Report TameTheTiger July 15, 2026 5:56 PM BST
i accept it was an ill judged ride. how many times have spencer and bowen held up horses in rear, finished best of them all and got beat. how many bans have they had for it ? the stewards are a bunch of mysogynistic twats
Report freddiewilliams July 15, 2026 7:09 PM BST
Would she have got the ban if she been beaten a short head
Report uptheirons July 15, 2026 7:18 PM BST
Probably not.
However, the horse finished full of running and should have won
Report freddiewilliams July 15, 2026 7:19 PM BST
This girl has history.....at cartmel last year
Report freddiewilliams July 15, 2026 7:20 PM BST
Misjudged the line. Stopped riding .beat a neck
Report freddiewilliams July 15, 2026 7:21 PM BST
28 day ban
Report freddiewilliams July 15, 2026 7:25 PM BST
Stewards would have given more that ten days if someone has showed them cartmel
Report barstool July 15, 2026 7:27 PM BST
No.

Luke Littler might miss treble 20 ten times in a row because the margin of error is so small. If he starts hitting the stage door then ban him as well.

Horses have just to be ridden to win, not by a nose, short head, head , neck or 5 lengths. There is a lot of scope to get the job done, on the best horse, as she was.

But she just made a horlix of it, hence the 10 days.

Agree 10 days perhaps a bit harsh her
Report barstool July 15, 2026 7:29 PM BST
Did not know about the Cartmel race.

Perhaps the reason for 10.
Report uptheirons July 15, 2026 7:33 PM BST
The question her defenders should answer is,would you be happy to back her on a horse you fancied.
I would not back her with stolen
Report barstool July 15, 2026 7:35 PM BST
Anyhow just difference of opinions.

Backing a 2-2 draw in the footy.

Good luck.
Report TameTheTiger July 15, 2026 7:36 PM BST
i wouldnt back any amateur rider, including 54yo john thorne.
its the sentence i think is harsh
Report uptheirons July 15, 2026 7:37 PM BST
After a 28 day ban for similar?
Report freddiewilliams July 15, 2026 7:41 PM BST
How many amateurraces in ten days
Report freddiewilliams July 15, 2026 7:42 PM BST
Means feckall to her except embarrassment
Report freddiewilliams July 15, 2026 7:42 PM BST
And maybe she doesn't get embarrassed
Report TameTheTiger July 15, 2026 7:43 PM BST
i dont think cartmel was at all similar. she misjudged the winning post and stopped riding there. two completely different circumstances.
Report uptheirons July 15, 2026 7:45 PM BST
It showed the level of her incompetence,TTT.
Let's leave it at that.
Good luck to England tonight.

exactly freddie. in my first week i delivered a whole street of terraced houses to the wrong street. i got the numbers correct though Cool. To err is to be human.
Report Cider July 15, 2026 8:04 PM BST
Worse than that isn't it, just amateurs. They should not be held to the same standard or expectation of competence as professional jocks. Different jurisdiction yes. but a professional in Ireland was let off for 'falling' off a horse that was about to win. Similar to that poor chap that got done for winning a race with a knackered horse clambering over a fence when he was the only runner left. They should only be educated and given advice unless their mount was obviously hooked.
Report TameTheTiger July 15, 2026 10:36 PM BST
They should not be held to the same standard or expectation of competence as professional jocks.

i agree
Report uptheirons July 15, 2026 10:38 PM BST
They are not and it is not exactly her first offence,TTT
Report formoftheace July 15, 2026 10:38 PM BST

Report Cider July 15, 2026 10:45 PM BST
Do you think it was hooked, uti?

Trainer confirmed the instructions and stated that in the first part of the race the ride accorded with the instructions, but in the final 3f she felt that the rider had let the winner and the second placed runners get too far ahead

I see, thrown under the bus lol. It was already all over by the 3 pole, Sam.
Report uptheirons July 15, 2026 10:47 PM BST
Not a chance,Cider,
Simply gross incompetence
Report Cider July 15, 2026 10:48 PM BST
That yard is not exactly vertical, either.
