If I get the opportunity I must ask GLASGOWCALLING how he sussed out that uptheirons previous username was racingstar.
I've looked back a few years at a handful of racingstar's replies and I couldn't see any evidence of name-calling or bullying. One has to wonder what's gone on in the intervening years that would explain uptheirons' current behaviour. |

Estrange has been retired,
Chris Richardson, managing director for Cheveley Park, said: "While Estrange has not had ideal conditions, with the very dry summer, it's been decided to retire her to the paddocks. Estrange suffered some bone bruising during her last race, which meant she has had to have an easy time since and, although an autumn campaign was being envisaged, time is running out to have her fully fit therefore Mrs Thompson feels, as she has won her Group 1, it is time for her to retire to the paddocks. Richardson’s comments confirm what some had questioned about her ideal going preference after Maddy’s article. |

My comment from yesterday about not taking the odds were for the fav.
Delashay • August 27, 2026 8:16 PM BST “I can’t take the odds for a horse who found nothing when asked.†Which is a slight contradiction to be revealed, but it’s all about the price and 3/1 is short without knowing the draw and Minnie Hauk not really representing the form well. For those cynics who claim that I mention every horse, I haven’t and I’ve stated who I’m against and was for. |

I’d backed two before last night, one’s a non the other bet is posted, minus the stake.
At this stage it’s the odds that I’m playing. |

But yeah book me a seat and get me two punts ready, the first will go down without hitting the sides! (Due to the cheering at the tv!)

Having watched the Yorkshie Oaks a couple of times, I am coming down on the side of Kalpana.
I think that was a hell of a performance last week. I have her as the most likely winner at this stage, and 7/1 is cracking price. The Filly and Mare race at Ascot will also be on their minds, so will have to wait before playing. |

Cualificar Was added today to the exchange. They aren’t bad odds Brandy and it was a mighty run, at the time of the KG I wrote about her acceleration and how far it lasts. I have a suspicion that if it’s not timed right and she shows, that she might be nabbed late (as she has been by the likes of Giavelloto, Calandagan etc and was very nearly last time out) |

Have you looked at her OR’s and compared them to this and last year?
![]() Her KG winning OR was 120 this year, heading into the Arc after being beaten by Botti’s G last year she was on 122. Her last run is rated 125, 5lb better than anything this year, but only 3lb above her figure last year and the narrative after the KG was that she’d improved. The OR’s don’t match that. She beaten over 7L last year in the Arc, is a 3lb increase on last year going to be enough and migrants have last time taken the edge off of her? |
|
By:
If the ORs were perfect, all we would have to do is back the top rated every time.
I find, especially in non handicap National Hunt races, that the market is normally formed around ORs which gives great betting opportunities. I agree with you about timing her run. Circumstances fell kindly for her in the George and hopefully Keane has learned from this. I do not blame him at York for going so early to chase down the pacemaker who looked at one stage to have gotten away from them. She is a tremendously consistent horse. Her run in last seasons Arc can be marked up as she ran in the slop on the outside the whole way. Unlike Daryz and Minnie who ran on the fresh ground on the rail. The draw as always will be important. |

There’s an interesting contender entered that stands out to me in the Niel Chiefland
Was runner up in the German Derby ahead of the same owners Salitos. He’d been 3rd prior in the Italian Derby, ahead of him was Grand Son Of Dark who ran well at big odds recently at Deauville. Chiefland isn’t entered in the Arc and the German Derby winner Dandanos ran a stinker next time out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zbfl_f9bz70 The highlighted colt went all round the houses during the race in the link, the winner covered much less ground. To run as he did, he must have an engine! |

Ah fk it, on Sunday there’s a big race in Baden Baden, where Botti’s Giavellto goes. Against him is a 3yr old called Bright Light, who has an Arc ambition. He was catching Presscott’s mare Tiffany last time out with Tornado Alert in behind. Whether this colt is fully wound up for this I don’t know? But should the Godolphin colt win Saturday or run well then things or odds of 150/1 might look mad in the year of an open arc. Out of interest Sadcrooks had him in at 100/1 but had the last time that I looked removed him from their market. Whilst he was pushed out by other firms here has him the same @66/1 He’s stamina laden, loves soft and goes against another formline on Sunday. He’s rated 118 or 119 Toreceto Tasso was rated the same when he won the ARC |
