ASF - Leave won the referendum due to voter apathy ?
The turnout was 72% - higher than any General Election of the last 30 years. |

Dixie I voted for it and would again, however there was apathy and did help. When people have a cause they are more inclined to make the effort. Thats life. Happened in the local elections for Councillors, so may thought our local lad was a shoe in so left it to everyone else to vote. Everyone else did not vote and he missed out. The house next to us had Remain in the window, and said my ilk were wrong. Admitted later, despite the rhetoric, 4 adults none voted.

You could say that about any election/referendum ASF, there will always be those who either never vote or simply don't turn out to do so.
Local elections are pretty much always subject to low turn outs which makes a surprise result more likely. The fact is that many more turned out to vote in the referendum than had done so since the GE of 1992. So less "apathy" than usual. |

Dixie thats why politics is never a given. I think what I am saying is right, you think what you are saying is right, that's why politics is so hard to predict, I thought for such a big one off election, the % returned show apathy and you feel it did not. However, I would agree with your comment...The fact is that many more turned out to vote in the referendum than had done so since the GE of 1992. So less "apathy" than usual.
