He gave the heads up on the 2nd in the 1st race. 28/1?

What about all the winners o brien had
Report ALIEN SEX FIEND June 18, 2026 5:13 PM BST
If the horse broke on terms, reckon he would have won. As they say it is about opinions. If he gave 3 of the JOB winner and 1 lost all people would say he tipped a loser. I remember on of the Easterbys last year, maybe year before (dad?) tod everyone to fill their boots on TV after they had a winner, the horse he gave was well backed however drifted in the market, maybe thats why people are cautious.

I feel that Al Riffa was an odd tip, nothing really suggested he would want 2.5 miles. Would have needed both of the front two to have flopped.
Report Cider June 18, 2026 5:21 PM BST
I think even his stride pattern data showed it wasn't suited to the race, but he put it up anyway.

It's no conspiracy but none of the stable insiders who work for broadcasters give much away about their employers. And you wouldn't expect them to.

Nobody is challenging IW's knowledge. That's not in doubt, he palpably immensely shrewd. It's how his association with JOB impacts his broadcasting.

Cider - Who's IW??
I did think the same about Al Riffa as I thought he had Yorkshire Cup
written all over him but he side-stepped that race won by Rahiebb.

Tom Segal and PK put up Allripper, that’s two days in a row TS has tipped a doubtful stayer. Yesterday was Godspeed

Irish Whisper (aka Kevin Blake).

Blake even said ignore the science of the stride stuff he was showing.

The books were keen to get it in the Dubai Gold Cup

1. Al Riffa  (FR) 5/6F
Declan McDonogh
Joseph Patrick O'Brien
6    93 v    119    85    110    –
Dwelt start, towards rear on outer, steady headway over 3f out, prominent 2f out, weakened final 110yds

And they did Laugh

Why would Blake say ignore the stride stuff, he was one of the first pundits I ever heard a year or to back screaming it from the rooftopsConfused
Report uptheirons June 18, 2026 5:56 PM BST
BTW,Blake would run rings around the whole of the ITV Team
Report Cider June 18, 2026 6:00 PM BST
yes it's dumbed down for the audience. poor Ed had never heard of a barrier trial. Luke repeatedly said it was its first time on a racecourse Grin
Report Delashay June 18, 2026 6:00 PM BST
It’s what he said on ITV Duffy, kind shot the whole thing in the foot.

Said the horse is relaxed and will be held up … so ignore all the evidence that I’m showing you about the others.

& that PW put it up also the day after Godspeed is questionable. Maybe it’s time for a winner tomoz.
Report 1st time poster June 18, 2026 6:01 PM BST
everyone was ignoring the STRIUDE Stuff for 100 yrs till 18 months ago, you,d like to think someone measuring tried pattern in the previous 100 yrs will tell us of the million,s they won, you,d think Blake would use all his data/stride length etc to narrow down the 7 runners they've had in some races this week, like AOB,Mullins, kelton its almost as though its a numbers game, throw enough ,,,, hope enough of it sticks
Report Delashay June 18, 2026 6:02 PM BST
As you can see in Dubai it couldn’t get 2 miles when fav. Iffy tip to say the least.

Staying 1m 7f where they walk in France is totally different.
Report Cider June 18, 2026 6:04 PM BST
On top of that, he was up against two granite hard horses. One of them maybe flops but you'd want more than 8-1 that they both did.

agreed.

He's certainly doing something right.
Report Cider June 18, 2026 7:09 PM BST
The conversation is more nuanced than that. Not a question of success. It's whether a broadcaster is compromised by being employed by some of the protagonists.

Some people could easily think that he must be in the know regarding Al Riffa. As nothing suggested it was a compelling bet, but he is employed by the trainer.

It's a little odd, that's all. It doesn't meet the criteria as a bet, and he presented data that suggested it wasn't a bet!
Report uptheirons June 18, 2026 7:14 PM BST
Would you prefer him not on the Channel,Cider?
Report Cider June 18, 2026 7:15 PM BST
Quite similar to the Dixons on rtv. And I believe Chris is an agent. And then expected to be independently critical of how they ride. As a consequence, will have far more info than is in the public domain. Plus, obviously, they operate a syndicate with a large amount of runners. Ruby and the Mullins mafia. Plenty of others.
Report Cider June 18, 2026 7:18 PM BST
Kind of irrelevant to me, irons. I must only watch itv racing three or four times a year. I am an analytical/observant type of person, and seem to naturally pick up on patterns. A blessing and a curse lol. I do have IW's book on my bookcase, as I've covered it's not a critique of his competence. As he is very confident, it's off that he put the horse up. Maybe it was actually really fancied by the yard, but they will have better bets every day of the week.
Report Busyfool June 18, 2026 7:37 PM BST
not comparable to the dixons

they are on as pundits and tipsters. and they aint bad, particularly the baldy one

blake more of an explainer to the audience and commentator on racing politics who chucks in the odd tip
Report Cider June 18, 2026 7:48 PM BST
I've watched all of the itv shows this week, he has been both punditing and tipstering.

You're another person missing the nuance.

Quite evidently they wouldn't be human if being so closely associated with protagonists had zero impact on their analysis. In fact Dixons are regularly punditing on their own horses. Although, as I mentioned I pick up on patterns and if they have a fancied runner at a RTV northern track, and neither of them are working, it's a decent pointer.

The pertinent question today is if he would have tipped Al Riffa if he wasn't working for the trainer. I think, absolutely not. His own data suggested it had no chance.
Report Busyfool June 18, 2026 8:19 PM BST
i dont miss nuffink

except itv, which i wouldnt watch if francesca was starkers
Report Cider June 18, 2026 8:34 PM BST
you self evidently did, your second line isn't relevant to my discussion. and all IW has been doing on itv this week (so far) is punditry and tipping. so the third line is inaccurate.
Report Busyfool June 18, 2026 8:42 PM BST
its not self-evident

its not 'your' discussion

whenever ive been aware of kb, who i like, hes not been a tipsterer and maybe his in-depth boring stuff is too much for the itv audience and he has shifted his focus a tad

but the broad truth remains. hes not really and they are nothing else
Report duffy June 18, 2026 8:47 PM BST
Until quite recently Blake worked for Betfair as a tipsterer
Report Cider June 18, 2026 9:21 PM BST

it is my discussion your are responding to. i didn't start the thread.

you are claiming to know what his role has been on the shows this week, and that you haven't viewed any of it.
Report Busyfool June 18, 2026 9:27 PM BST
you were part of a discussion. not yours. its not singular

if something is self-evident it requires no proof

never did i claim to know what he said on itv
