Much of the attention today is on one Japanese horse but Lugal ran well in Dubai, form that puts it in the mix if it can run well off its break. Has won over 7f so might not be outstayed as Satono was last year.

I’ve just seen that Kalpana has been entered for the Hardwicke and is fav.
There is one who has been trained for this race.

But Billicart in the same race is over priced was a head behind Catullus a length in front of Oxagon in the hot maiden where Desert Storm beat Constitution River. Burke said before the Guineas that he was a 7f horse in the making.

Seems that it was missed that I talked up both Christmas Day and Bay City Roller but those who missed it missed out and are bitter!
So to call it aftertiming is a stretch.
Cases were made for both and the prices taken at the time mentioned, 20/1 a piece.

Delashay - I remember you mentioned Bay City Roller in the preceding days to the Coronation Cup but at what stage did you get that 20/1? Was it when the ground was good?
Those who checked the weather forecast anticipating a downpour deserved to get that whopper price (SP or on here?) in anticipating a downpour
It's the kind of initiative I just ain't got the patience for...checking out 'predictions' for the weather which have been historically SHíTE

I backed it EW when the prices were put up, I’d said that I was against Calandagan after his win in Dubai. I’ve followed the horse, saw George Scott on ATR saying he’s waiting to go a mile and a half and wants rain.
Liked the form of his German win where he trounced Burkes Conwhateverhisnameis who was single figures.
No forecast watching, the price was right, it was gamble.
No recollection of me mentioning Christmas Day? I’d spoken about it and DD said that on pedigree it wouldn’t like soft perhaps.
I’ve no need to fib about mythical bets. It’ll be a while before I land another like that.

So what was the ground at the precise time you nailed that 20s? That's the crux of it...as if you used your initiative and did your homework about the weather then that deserves a doff of the cap, as once the rains came it was reflected in the market...probably immediately!
As you know...I started a thread about that Coronation as I could see the front pair of Calandagan & Jan Brueghel BOTH being vulnerable on that day and I explained why, though at that stage I had no idea what was gonna happen in the skies as if so, I would've been all over BCR too!

The weather was unsettled the ground wasn’t fast there was a likleyhood of rain which is why I questioned would the Derby fav run.
I can recall telling people that connections of Calandagan didn’t want rain and might not run as they felt him a doubtful stayer at the track on soft.
Graffard virtually said the day before he was there because of the timing of the races and would run whatever, which was a back track on what they’d said before.

You might also recall the form line that I mentioned about Prescott horse? Tiffany who was best 5L by Kalpana.
In that German race Bay City beat her 7L. She seemed a good yard stick and we know Calandagan beat her 1L at Ascot in the KG.

Why was Flora not withdrawn? No money on and they wait all that time to load an 80/1 shot. Ok it’s won the race before but they were making all the others wait.

Nice bit of after timing from Ruby there in analysis!
For anyone not on ITV, he said on Wednesday he and his VT operator Hannah picked up Fozzy from Windsor and he said it’d win. Ruby says he didn’t back it but Hannah did!

Delashay • June 18, 2026 11:02 AM BST I can share this from David Menusuer. The filly that he mentions is Earth Shot who his beat narrowly at Goodwood.
“Honestly, she has put in a very good performance lately and, on top of that, I know that the filly she has dominated is highly esteemed by William Haggas. Among the 3-year-old females, Inis Mor is by far my best filly. I also have a good colt, Lost Boys, but the rest, at 3 years old, is very average.”

Not backed but that’s some horse to win after pulling like that, Melbourne Cup horse?

Just! I need Germany (Haiti) and Bow Echo (Sussex) for a small treble. I need Ben (Irish Derby) for a treble too after Bow Echo and Precise. The forecast is friendly next week at Leopardstown.

Moore said AOB ran Illinois in the wrong race at Epsom. I think AOB knew what he was doing. He needed a battalion to make life difficult for Calandagan, but not accounted for Bay City Roller to gatecrash.

I enjoyed this Royal Ascot. Only had a few selective bets and the super / epic boosts. Yes, it was good to see Moore does have a sense of humour even with Chapman. I firmly believe if AOB / Coolmore were running a battalion in a Group race to aid their principal runner in the Far East or East Asia eg Hong Kong Cup / Japan Cup, S Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, they'd have been hauled before the horseracing authority and sanctioned eg an immediate ban imposed. They might even be asked to fund the race concerned eg cough up for the prize money.
The Irish Derby is next sunday at Leopardstown.

What I'm thinking is not always in sync with what I'm typing. I think it's getting progressively worse. Anyway the weather for The Curragh is settled and friendly all through next week. AOB could be filling 4 ie 4 from Epsom plus possibly Causeway.

Who knows Impossible, there’s no real threats with the Haggis horse going to the Grand Prix Du Paris.
James Braddock and stablemate, not really excited about the race.
What’s your thoughts on the King George?
Against Minnie Hauk?

Division had to switch out several lanes to get a run in the Commonwealth Cup and was still only three-quarters of a length down on Venetian Sun at the line. You wouldn’t describe him as conventionally unlucky but he got closer to the winner than at Haydock and, if they were to meet again on ground as fast as this, Division would not be without a chance of reversing the placings.

I've never been a fan of Minnie Hauk. I still believe The ARC she ran in was mediocre. I'm waiting to see if Con River is being aimed. It's very unlikely he and Minnie would run - only one will. If the former does I'd oppose him with Calandagan. I did not back Jan at Ascot, but he'd do in the King George if Con River chickens out.
I think AOB will be mob-handed again, and team tactic deployed (again). I hope the BHA uphold the suspension of Soumillon as it was pretty blatant and unsporting.

I meant King George. Con River will never run in The ARC unless the lads have a brain transplant each. I think AOB was fairly vocal against Con River running in The Eclipse either. The horse could be targeting races overseas eg Meydan and America.
I think AOB knows the "potential" of Con River without the hype by journos and pundits.

You could be right about abroad, like Magician and the Breeders Cup Turf.
On hype he was only rated a lb better than the Epsom winner.
The French handicapper has Daryz running to the same level at Ascot as his two previous wins this season.

To clarify that’s his Arc winning mark, as said earlier it’s been unchanged despite wining over inadequate trips.
Will need to improve if he’s to win another Arc on that then.

If he wants it...Calandagan will take Minnie Hauk to the cleaners - it'll be a serious búm rápíng! She's a damn good filly and I don't underestimate her but I'm sure he'll be too strong for her. I predict a comfortable 2 lengths...whatever the ground.
