What?? If it wins, it's a runner - if it loses, it's a NR?

Cretinous.

The horse was inconvenienced, and his running was affected. Had Ben won he'd have been deemed a runner as the horse had not been inconvenienced (it won) or negatively affected the result. This was explained by one of the stewards.

the loony Hong Kong steward basicaly just told lucky that in any steward,s  inquiry involving a fav the fav should be favoured in any  decision making  ,because more people are effected by that decision , WOW CryCry

hopefully this will lead to the rule being abolished because a well intended rule when used correctly clearly is open to abuse by vested interests

Had £30 the winner at 16's with magic sign this morning.
Went back in around 4:22.  £510 returned.
Either good will or got in before they managed to re-settle.

In nigh on 50 years of being a race goer, owner and punter you think that you've seen pretty much everything that you possibly could and then this curveball turns up.

It's an extraordinary decision.

Hulk, did the same , got the 3rd, no deductions almost exactly same time as you
5 minutes later there's a rule4 in freds

So, imagine this scenario,  twice a year punter, GN and Derby, has a score on the winner, his mate the same bet, one of them collects 45 quid(ish?) less than his mate 5 minutes later...explain that one to him

Exactly,  slippy, I'm in the pub trying to explain to casual punters how significant this is, as in complete madness and flouting of the rules, as most see it

I'm trying to give them another sporting comparison,  but can't come up with one

it's like betting a 1st goalscorer in football
the geezer goes off injured in 1st minute & fat parker says you've been denied a fair bet here's your money back

correct.  he's paid me too much, but how many sleepers he got sitting in the till ??

how many saw the fav falling out the back of the tv, ripped their ticket up and walked out the shop.

the problem with this rule is that it has introduced a scenario (which is unknown at the time until the horse does what it does) where everyone who has backed the favourite in essence has a free bet on the favourite, whereas everyone else has paid. this is a less fair situation than the misfortune experienced by the backers of the fav, when the fav does something to hinder its own chance of winning. and the guy from whirlpool who thinks they are protecting the majority from unfairness, is actually creating unfairness for the majority because those who are opposing this horse at 3s or whatever it was, are the majority. muppets
