Tear the form book up...its useless in Ireland ...inferential information and intent is the only guide........5 trainers rule NH racing another 5 rule Flat racing....and no one wants to finish second or third to any of their stars or potential stars
I mean you come second to an eased subsequent Cheltenham or Royal ascot winner...what mark do you get....you see the problem with Irish form ...best keep yourself out the back eh...until you have your race in mind

Have you not read what the handicapper at the BHA say about handicap races in Ireland and the accuracy of horses running to their merits? Just stay away. It's good for your pocket!

Yep I know....I compiled my own private handicap ratings for decades...along the lines of Walter Glynn of Raceform....it wasn't too bad...you were so close to the sport you instantly spotted a very potential winner....when it came to Irish racing I compiled them for three seasons..........it was an embarrassment informing mates of 15lb in certainties time after time in Ireland sunk without trace...horses can go up in the weights never leaving their stable finishing second or third to a top 5 stranglehold trainer....so lots make sure they dont....so the form book is totally useless

did your own private handicap ratings take into account someone jumping off at the last because it looked like he was going to win, and a myriad of other skulduggery ?

LOL I could honestly write a book on some of stunts I've seen in Ireland...they smokescreen horses to perfection...the top stables do it to get their owners a price...I read the diehards are now even walking away in droves...I personally think its worse now than ever...they don't even bother interviewing about blatant non triers or will take the excuse....the trainer couldnt explain the horses running...its creeping in here too....slowly aways running on from rear is happening all the time now....this actually happens to a lot of very well handicapped horses...waiting for the right moment
