This is going to take several racing (losing) days to get used to. Luckily I have a magnifying glass handy for much of the microscopic script.

Hopefully I should get used to it after a potentially disastrous losing first week.
Report harold_lloyd May 19, 2026 10:01 AM BST
it is overall a terrible layout. too many clicks and scrolling just to see basic information .

when you click on a horses name they don't even show the odds of the horse anymore, that's basic information , now you have to click on odds comparison .  how is that an improvement ?
Report madhatter May 19, 2026 10:11 AM BST
It's sh1te...used to have todays OR, RPR and TS ratings just above the ones from the horses previous runs.
Now they are stuck away in some tiny frigging font next to the form figures.
Report loper May 19, 2026 10:12 AM BST
When you go to the compact card the colours disappear but magically reappear if you narrow the window when, as a consequence, every single stat disappears.

Why can’t these computer nerds just leave things alone. Improvements are supposed to make things clearer and easier. This disaster does exactly the opposite. Awful. Back to the drawing board or, better still, revert to how it was. We’re all used to it, so why change. Change for the sake of change never works.
Report harold_lloyd May 19, 2026 10:30 AM BST
correct Bluemax , just give people the option to use the old site or the new site . people can make their own minds up then

they did something similar in the newspaper about 8 years ago regarding the ratings and switched back to the original version when people complined

email them , otherwise they will never know how **** it is

And it looks like Topspeed and RPR data tables are omitted from the basic package, forcing me to have to upgrade. I'm not sure that should be allowable. When I subscribed that's what I was buying, now they're "saying sorry, you're not getting what you paid for".

Oh right - so just looked and you're correct - three of them HAVE the information available. Which means that it looks like a technical problem rather than that data having been removed from the Insights package. I'll take a positive from that, provided the glitch is not that they were INCLUDED by mistake. Obviously a few spanners in the works.

There's nothing like showing empathy to your customers and taking them along with you, perhaps informing them of what you are intending and why, then asking them for input to help improve the final product.

Then there's the Racing Post's way of doing it. The polar opposite.

Timeform race passes is "trialling" new features. But that is alongside the existing format and its asking for feedback (it's b^^^dy awful by the way), and it's been there for months now. RP might take a look at their railroad approach.

Thanks for that address, lux. I Have just sent the following message:

Every time I click on a racecard I get the message

Application error: a client-side exception has occurred while loading www.racingpost.com (see the browser console for more information).

By disabling Javascript I can access the racecard, but then I cannot access any form when clicking on a horse's name. To do that I have to re-enable Javascript every time.

I am using the Chrome browser on Windows.

In the meantime the best thing to do is to keep Javascript enabled, but type each horse's name into the search box when you are doing the form for a race. After that it works as before. It's just the racecards which are now inaccessible.

The other thing worth trying is simply to give the game up, because we're all going to be affordability checked out of it anyway.

There is not the slightest chance that the RP will revert to its old site arrangements. The clear idea is to remove RP Ratings and speed figures so that you have to pay for them. They need the money so you can safely forget the old site. Shame, I used to buy the RP about 3-4 times a week. I would now have to travel 10 miles to get one. It was also useful to compare RP ratings with Timefrom. Now I can no longer do that I will probably stop Timeform and rely on my own ratings.

Ok, based on one race and some digging around, the horses appear to be in ascending order of their Racing Post profile page number (not sure if this number has any other relevance but I think not).

So for the 19:30 at Huntingdon, the horse at the top is Tiger Orchid (2928026) and the horse at the bottom is Sunray Shadow (58950449) with all those inbetween in this order too.

Obviously that meaningless number is how many people structure and order their research...

Having watched the promo and tried to navigate the new format, it would appear that the race card itself is the last thing we, the customer, require. Tips, verdicts, predictors are now the top priority it would seem.

I get the same error message on the Edge browser, bluebook. Like you, I am running an old laptop (Windows 7 in my case). So I can't complain really. I'm certainly not giving up the speed and convenience of Windows 7 just for these new racecards.

The odd thing is that I can still access each horse's form from the A-Z list on the Racecards page, and clicking through the form that way has suddenly got quicker and smoother than it was! So I think I shall just let sleeping dogs lie now. I don't want them switching off that workaround.

sageform re pedigrees -- on each card below the blurb and above the first horse, there should be a settings tab which enables you to add pedigrees (sire, dam, damsire) as on the old format. Once set it sticks for all cards.

From the RP guide, these settings should have been carried over from the old format but clearly were not.

Just a thought.

We are using (or struggling to use) the cards on laptops or PCs but the RP staff and racegoers probably use it on their phones.

I wonder if that is the motive for the changes: to make the cards fit more easily on phone screens.

Look in the 'Stats+' tab that sits in one of the rows of buttons above the racecard.
Unfortunately it is no longer a drop down menu at the bottom of the card.
TS, RPR's OR's are also under the same button.

This is the biggest problem, previously everything was on the pro card same page. You could order the card and open whichever stat drop downs you needed, from that point everything - comments, race comments, top speed, post data, replays was just a quick scroll, hover / click away.

Splitting the pro card from stats+ and removing the drop downs kills that ease of use stone dead.
