Get some new material Leif the Brainless

You could do with taking your own advice and I’m sure many on here would agree but for fear of you becoming their shadow! Laugh

I wouldn't be taking Evens about Burnham winning the seat
What if Reform put in a big hitter of their own?
What if Farage resigns his own safe seat to go up against Burnham? And then another Reform candidate wins Farage's original seat (in Essex?)...with Farage getting another seat if he loses?...very unlikely I know

What if Starmer gets the hump and goes to the King to dissolve the government and force a general election?...even more unlikely I know...but I just fancy it won't be as straightforward as Burnham standing and winning comfortably

Do you think if Starmer used his middle name, he might appear more of a 'man of the people'? Ditch the suit as well, and bingo. It's such a shallow world.

Stammer is the shallow one, all ego.

Much has been written about the tears shed during Keir Starmer’s interview with Piers Morgan. But there were laughs too – not least when the Labour leader revealed that his middle name was Rodney.

The audience guffawed at this revelation, confirming why Starmer hated it so much that he pretended he didn’t have a middle name when filling in his marriage certificate in 2007. His friends later played a trick on him by faking a letter from Essex Council which suggested that as he had not used his full name, the marriage was null and void.

Starmer’s father was called Rodney. Originally a surname, it gained popularity as a first name in the late 18th century, courtesy of Admiral George Brydges Rodney, a commander during the American war of independence. It was a moderately popular name in the 1930s and 40s in England and Wales, ranked 48th in 1944, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). But it was only after 1981, when Starmer was 19, that it became a source of mirth.

It’s a real shame that he never made the twisted speech that he made yesterday about those going to London to march before the elections!

Result might have been even worse for him! Laugh

You can throw the ego tag at Burnham, Streeting, and a whole bunch of others. Then you have the total loons like Johnson, Farage and Trump.

I agree totally, they are full of ego and don’t have our interests at the top of their agendas.

They’ve talked about us being under threat from abroad and all this infighting is only making them smile with delight at the lack of stability here or a real leader that’s not found out to be yet another hypocrite.

Why is British politics about personalities and leaders?
So far
the guy with the yellow uncombed hair that has many offspring, no policies, and will save hundreds of millions
the guy whose wife had all the millions
the guy who is left of the left of the left
the woman who was in the job a week
the guy who drinks beer and will solve all immigration problems

Love to know what Burnham is saying on the doorstep about Brexit. Is he being honest, or lying? My money would be firmly on the latter.

It really is time to stop this nonsense. It has gone on enough.

I do not have a daughter, but if I did and this was forced upon her or my other half I would not be standing for it.

Men should be protectors of their loved ones and any man with a wife or daughter(s) out there have every single right to stand up to this filth.

Ended up a shoe-in after the Reform candidate was exposed as useless. Market couldn't get enough of him. To me he comes across as a smug opportunist. Huge whiff about someone just standing down to allow his mate to become Prime Minister.

He's portrayed as the best of a bad bunch. Mr Ed Miliband, a non-descript PM and Labour leader is also a senior Cabinet member says it all. David, his brother who was smarter, was junked by Labour for lacking charisma and being arrogant.

I hope Mr Burnham is PM material - he's experienced and a good communicator - unlike Sir Shameless who's no experience / lacking charisma and ability to communicate - but for being a former resident of the CPS was parachuted in to challenge the political gravy-trainer with only one paid job Mr Corbyn.

Who knows how the next few years will work out.

FPTP will be consigned to history at some point unless bizarrely Labour and the Tories are able to get their numbers back, but even if they do, most likely not enough that the push towards PR will be so strong.

You can't have significant numbers voting for the Lib Dems, Reform or the Greens, and not have their views represented in Parliament. That may help to confront the increasing apathy.

59% might be considered high for a by election but this one was hyped up to a level we've never seen before. And we still have almost half of the electorate being no shows.
