Mississippi River, who ran yesterday, has been supplemented for the Lockinge this Saturday. Big Johnny G will be tearing his hair out at such team tactics.
I don’t think he’ll be bothered as Damysus has won over further so if it tries to go quick it’ll play into his hands. If they go slow however that’ll be different, but he’ll just stride on.
Gosden likes a pacemaker too as we’ve seen in the Sussex Stakes and the International at York last year.

I’m not so sure that it’s paranoia, we’ve seen tactics employed at Chester last week, they give a lead and keep others wide on a tight track. I commented in the Oaks trial that Buick was crud by going 3,4 wide to challenge and not get towed into the race by following Moore.

This morning on ATR I saw Kate Tracy play the interview with AOb and he actually said, “All of last year we thought that TLIW was a miler, but we trained him for the Dante and the Derby.”
Quite astounding that he never even tried to hide what they knew and thought!
Anyone have thoughts turning towards this? This morning on ATR I saw Kate Tracy play the interview with AOb and he actually said, “All of last year we thought that TLIW was a miler, but we trained him for the Dante and the Derby.”Quite astounding
I don’t expect much in response except the usual abuse and dim attempts at some sort of attempted whit!
But here it is the race that got me into racing when I landed my first Lucky and acca when Rakti won for Michael Jarvis!

Says the guy who was away for 10+ plus years and is back spouting the same old!
If you can’t discuss races then don’t bother with sharing your opinion of me.

That stamina helped him win the race at Newbury.
Who’s prepping today for the Queen Anne and who has this as their target?
Damasus was meant to go to the Prix Disphan until Graffard talked about sending Daryz there.
People will say he’s here because of Field Of Gold’s absence however.
(So who else might be able to step up in trip later?) they’ve been talking of doing that with FOG for while.

The reverse question is which of the fancied horses have plenty of speed and have a mile as their maximum trip? That would seem to be Notable Speech, Zeus Olympicos (with limited evidence) and Jonquil. Some might include Ciceros Gift and Dancing Gemini but they are not backed at all. For me (biased as usual by connections), the value is Jonquil. You have to go back to the French Guineas when he was second to Henri Matisse for his best RPR but he won comfortably last time out.

I’d read yesterday that you follow the stable closely Sage, the points that you make are valid. Even though Notable Speech won our 2000 his best form is on easier mile tracks. Buick was heavily criticised for his ride on him last time out, but he should have won the Marois last year on the Deauville track which is short of a mile. Looks like this is his target as opposed to the Queen Anne where they think that Opera will see out the stiffer mile better.
The same can be said I think for Jonquil if Field Of Gold were to come back.
On that and their likeness I can more than see the angle for Jonquil here, but he was in receipt of weight behind Holloway Boy at Ascot. Interestingly that one was beaten in Dubai by Opera and that puts him in line with Burkes Zeuss maybe?
Has course form too and looks an each way price but he either wins or blows out!
I think that Zeuss was ready last time and doesn’t get the strong mile and has maybe been flattered by his beating of the Godolphin colt.
The trouble is as with last year these fast milers will have to wait and time it perfectly otherwise like Dancing last year they may be outstayed.
Good luck and thanks for your view Sage.

The value is surely Dancing Gemini, neck second last year when 2/1F, 40/1 is an insult. Would be even more backable if trainer was in better form but still worth a punt imo.

Just been through the past winners of this. With the exception of Frankel, it's not really produced any true equine greats over the years. Probably explains my lack of enthusiasm for this year's renewal.

Well was his day today (Nitable Speech) and no standout 4 year olds which isn’t a surprise after last year. (5 year olds 1, 2, 4)
And Zeus’s was over rated for beating Opera as he did, had ever chance.

D-Day indeed for AE. I hope he wins for the sake of his trainer. Otherwise, please retire the beast. One Constitution Hill and Hendo are sufficient in horseracing!
The Lion In Winter was excessively and repeatedly hyped by AOB. I do not think he'll win a GP 1 outside Ireland.

Money for Albert Einstein. Nevertheless I think it's prudent to take on Albert Einstein at a shortie price. He's been responsible for too many false dawns.

Horses that are running to fill the places of others should be avoided at all costs.
Damasys showed because Field of Gold was wrong and didn’t go where planned the D’isphan because of Daryz, as did Jonquil for Judmontte because of no show for FOG.
The horse trained for the race WON, a different prep this time around.
I’m very surprised that Burke feels that Zeuss needs to step up in trip, saw the comments at the end after watching the FA Cup. Is the trainer unaware of the the nature of the difference between mile tracks at Newbury and Ascot?
Seems very odd that he’d not want to try the stiffer mile first.
Notable Speech hasn’t won at Ascot and I’d not be running from him.

I'd be inclined to agree with you Del (re ZO). Obviously the trainer sees him every day and knows the family on the dam's side...but I can't see any obvious reason on pedigree why he needs to go further, and the visual impression didn't suggest a further distance would bring about further improvement either (looked keen with plenty of early yesterday). Impressed with the winner's turn of foot yesterday, he looked a cut above the rest.

Thanks Johann, he’s a great horse with a sharp turn of foot for sure, was well backed so it was his day and being top rated it looked obvious. Last year we had a handful of joint favs after this for the Queen Anne and I was slightly disappointed that nothing else really put their had up except the second.
Dancing ran well and it was true what Trusty had said about him as he was well over odds.
The Queen Anne is littered with big price winners and I’d not be backing NS to follow up at a track that he’s not won at.
Burke stepping up in trip seems more about avoiding the winner and maybe even more so Opera Bello than Zeuss needing extra distance.
