a small but select field and the 1st place to start is daryz the arc winner top class and room for more improvement but this will be tactical and a few of these are racefit with this as the  possible target and at the odds i can pass on daryz this time he may still be good enough to win today  tho. not a great deal between the others and i like the chance of bright picture who is progressing nicely winning his last 2 and go back far enough and he has been btn by calandagan twice but got to within 3/4 of a length to that one so ability is there and has fitness on his side .
also first look has good back form btn 2l by look de vega when 2nd in the prix du jockey club that one went on to win the 2024 arc . been behind bright picture twice this season but got closer to that one last time btn 3/4 of a length in 4th and a double figga price .
selections first look 10/1 and bright picture 7/1 win bets  good luck opinions encouraged.

Bright Picture was getting 4lb first up against First Look, then last time he got 2lb so today for 3/4 should be closer, the extra distance of the Jockey Club should suit too.

They say that Daryz has been training the house down and needs to run he’s that well.

Both have form with Bay City Roller, 1 1/4 between him and First Look.

3/4 between Daryz and BCR.

Gonna be typical tight French stuff, today will tell us if Bright Picture has progressed.

Mares have a bad record in the race and it’s 20 years since Bago won the Arc and followed up here, but fresh up have a

record of 10 winners in the 21 st century.

Good luck Cool

Arrow Eagle is you look back far enough was a length and a half behind last years winner Sosie in the FERRIERES

Then in the G. D'ORNANO was a neck behind Bright Picture, he’s looking to do an Irisine and win the Royal Oak before this and may be classed as a plodder because of his last win but on ratings isn’t out of it.

Aventure has a superb record when fresh and has a chance to prove that his Arc run wasnt his true running.
Report Delashay April 26, 2026 1:43 PM BST
The trainer says that she’s going there to win it not just prep ZZZZORRO but after this he’s keen to keep her to females.

The winning mares: Aquarelliste (2002), Kartajana (1991), Triptych (1987). Aventure will try to take inspiration from the last one named, also crowned at 5 years old.

I don’t know how many have ran in that period.

According to Zara after the first when saying they’d avoid the quick going at Ascot for their stayer, even though it was quick enough today. Trip over fast ground at Ascot would be too much of a test she felt.

Cool man, I have to go out now but first look is looking like Ben E King and his group, thought he’d be ok on it, was quick in the Jockey Club.

10/1 Daryz for the Arc looks incredible
Report differentdrum April 26, 2026 3:43 PM BST
Nice to see a top horse live up to expectations. Fingers crossed he continues to do that through the season. If he does, it's hard to see what will beat him at 10 or 12 furlongs.
Report differentdrum April 26, 2026 3:44 PM BST
He is generally 5/1 for the Arc, Unibet haven't updated the price. No chance they are 10/1 when everyone else is 5/1.
Report Delashay April 26, 2026 4:25 PM BST
He looked different class and stature in the paddock then when alongsides the others. That was brilliant and now I see why Graffard said he’d have NO worry about dropping back for the D’SIphan! Shocked

Sosie did it last year and after that and after get chinned then Gosden might be double thinking about sending Damasus for it! Laugh

First Look looks gone, Bright Picture has improved, but this lad will tear Minnie Hauk a new one if they wanna bring her for the POW!!

Foys he and Samangan share the same thing that they are May foals, Zara was saying that Daryz is a young 4 year old earlier today.
But from what I’ve seen Samangan is a big boy too like him, you might remember on my 2000 thread that I was worried that the Guineas might be a learning curve for Samangan as the trip to York was for Daryz last year?

If he doesn’t stay the mile and stats go against him not having raced further than 6f at 2 as well as being a May fowl, then take the hint and back him for the Commonwealth Cup because he’s repeating the trick!  (Travelling a young horse to help him mature his mind for things further down the line) WinkWink

So who’s going to Ascot to see this one on the Wednesday?!!

This could arguably be one of the best 5/1 ante - post pokes for a very long time that was effortless stays sound bit of rain in October and ding dong diddly.
Report differentdrum April 26, 2026 6:18 PM BST
October a long way off, and how often does something save the bookmakers. Given the way he picked up today not sure he wants a drop of rain.

One thing is for sure the POW will have a massive bearing on the odds, I can’t think of when two Arc contenders showed up in June at Ascot since Manduro battered Dylan Tomas?

Thursday, May 21, at ParisLongchamp: Star horse Daryz sets his sights on the Prix d’Ispahan
Daryz, who left his rivals in the dust in the Prix Ganay, now faces his second major challenge of the season.

Only nine horses remain in contention for the Aga Khan IV Prize (Prix d’Ispahan, Gr. I) on Thursday at ParisLongchamp, and all eyes will be on Daryz, who was impressive in his victorious return in the Prix Ganay, the first French Group 1 race of the year. The most recent winner of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe literally dazzled the field with his talent, leaving an impression of total superiority in his return to the track. Facing him is a high-quality field, including Sosie, the defending champion of this race and the author of a convincing return at Sha Tin (Hong Kong). Aventure, an excellent third-place finisher in the “Ganay” after a somewhat troubled run, will be looking to get her revenge. Almaqam, third in last year’s Champion Stakes at Ascot, brings a solid international pedigree, while Leffard impressed in his return in the Prix d’Harcourt. A spectacular lineup is in store.

Yep Diamond Jonny ducked it! Silly

Anyone remember my thoughts on this colt back then?

"Francis has always had the Commonwealth Cup in mind, but as we had Rayif for the Poule d'Essai at Longchamp, and Samangan handles a straight course so well, we thought we'd try to nurse him over a mile. But he wasn't right so we didn't do that, and hopefully if he runs well, we can go to the Commonwealth Cup."

My concerns about him truly running on merit in the Guineas have pretty much been confirmed with that statement by their facing manager today in the above quote! Wink
