Personally I believe who you vote for this term shows more about who you are and what you believe far more than ever before.

It's going to be interesting and I pray my dreams come true.

Report Celtic warrior April 22, 2026 9:55 AM BST
Restore uk will get 3% max, but all of those 3% would othwise have voted reform. Therefore even though restore has good policies if you vote for them you just help get a left wing coalition.

I shall probably be voting Labour. Which doesn't mean I have a high opinion of Starmer and his government. It does mean I wouldn't vote for parties led by Farage or Lowe if hell had frozen over.
Report Ramruma April 22, 2026 10:16 AM BST
Restore is a one-man band founded to fight for the important principle that Rupert Lowe got cheesed off with Nigel Farage so he defected from Reform.

That 3% figure might be true but it might be 30% in Yarmouth averaged with zero elsewhere.

That's why you always have to look at the small print when national percentages are quoted for the SNP, for instance.

Celtic warrior is spot on and the left know it, see what happened in Gorton and Denton all those Muslims voting for a party led by a jewish gay man just to keep Reform out. The right have always shot themselves in the foot by not sticking together.

My sentiments as well, just a shame Starmer stopped Andy Burnham from standing. Sad

First Past the Post: A system under strain

The days of a vast majority of people voting for one of two ‘major parties’ are gone. Unfortunately, the electoral system designed for those days, First Past The Post (FPTP), is still very much with us for UK general elections.

First Past the Post resulted in the most disproportional general election result ever in 2024, when Labour won almost two-thirds of seats, from just over one-third of votes. pmsLaugh

With the continued rise of multi-party politics since then, it is likely to result in even more random and chaotic results in future.
Report Dotchinite April 22, 2026 11:14 AM BST
Yes one third of the vote with a turnout of less than 60%.  Next election could be even worse and surely has to spell the end of FPTP.

I'm voting for the Liberal Democrats this time. I certainly cannot vote for Sir Shameless - the lame duck.
I cannot vote for Reform with the self-publicist and egoist as leader, and their bunch of misfits and Party hoppers eg Jenrick, etc. Also, I think its funders eg Yusuf would hijack the Party since the Labour Party has shown preference for the Jewish community.
I like Badenoch however, I cannot vote for The Conservative so soon after the mismanagement of UK Plc by Bojo and Sunak.

Anyone that votes for Labour clearly falls into this category.

We are poor and defenceless. This used to be a nation revered globally. We have now become a global laughing stock.

What's your rationale/metric for 'best' ?

If you take national politics out of it, my area went from a Tory led council to Labour. When lockdown came the Tory council was able to use reserves to freeze the tax believe it or not. Now it is run by labour, gone to shyte, maximum tax increases annually.

I don't see how anyone who isn't lying can legitimately claim that labour is the best at anything in a positive way, in relation to national government. 400+ MPs and apparently the current muppet is only escaping being kicked out is that it's deemed there isn't a legitimate candidate for pm among them to take over. ...and some believe they are the best of a bad bunch.
