You see many bookmakers these days headlining Price Boosts, but what actually is a Price Boost?
Many of these "Boosts" are incremental adjustments to odds eg 4/5 boosted to 5/6, 5/6 boosted to 10/11 and 10/11 boosted to 1/1 are some I've seen in recent days. OK I agree it is dependent upon the number of outcomes available, but come on are these boosts?
As the bookmaker generally has a massive over-round in their favour, the above examples, imo, are not boosts in the sense that the word means, as the bookmaker in these instances are only slightly reducing their over-round and hence giving nothing away.
Personally I would like to see the removal of the word Boost unless the increase is actually of any value to the punter.
In a football match that may mean 5/4 for an 1/1 chance, but in a 10 horse race that 1/1 should be 11/8 or even 6/4.
So, realistically, what would you describe as a Boost? As atm some of the so called boosts are taking the "P".

Equivalent to a furniture retailer eg DFS reducing their prices at Easter / X'mas or a holiday weekend to attract the uninitiated. The inducement is so negligible.

At least with Fred you can get mostly get up to £100 on and he has some decent ones.
His 5.00 boost Wednesday, max stake £20, was Arsenal 1/1 to beat Sporting, that was decent and OK if you're betting to those stakes levels. |

I don't doubt that Fred does offer some good ones.
But his screens are covered with "to score" offers. Uses some of the biggest names in the game like Kane and Salah. Might offer 5/2(was 7/4) when over 7/2 is available on exchange. It was offered at 7/4 only for the purpose to make 5/2 look attractive at a later time. A slimy trick targeting the weakest. |
