I've never ridden a horse, but I  think a better jockey may have stayed on board?

Nico does seem to ride a number if helluva dodgy top class horses, that look like really hard rides.....

Id have to see another jockey on these horses to confirm mind.

Report Regbutler April 9, 2026 2:41 PM BST
Yes, Penzance, i owned up to that
I posted during the race, without the benefit of seeing it again
Ruby has just analysed it on the slo mo , and even allowing for jockeys being loathe to criticise each other, he made a case for Nico doing his best
Report the old nanny ;-) April 9, 2026 2:42 PM BST

I agree, that no one would stay on, but do they make mistakes because of Nico or is he just an unlucky jockey.
Report loper April 9, 2026 2:45 PM BST
The jump was fine he just slipped on landing.
Report wondersobright April 9, 2026 2:48 PM BST

not easy to retain balance after that but you do see jockeys with great balance staying on

Nico is on the favourite and would've lost if the 2nd fav hadn't have fallen. Poor jumping by Jango again with Point to Point Nico onboard. Very lucky - terrible jockey.

Delashay - Jango finishes 2nd if Mullins horse hadn't fallen. There is no way that Point to Point Nico is going to beat an elite jockey like Townend in a driving finish.
I can see it now with Nico's famous unbalanced powderpuff finish and Paul T low in the saddle pushing away. Hilarious.
Report Delashay April 10, 2026 12:41 PM BST
Newmarket I’ve not disagreed with you, Townend was tanking, the finish would have at least been interesting because you can’t say that it looked like a tired fall, just took off too soon.

He was getting ready to jump and take off whilst Jango was still putting in an extra step.

The taps down the neck seemed to make him go early.
Report the old nanny ;-) April 10, 2026 1:53 PM BST
WTF was he doing on Joyeuse at the Start , was front ranks lost 15 Lengths before they jumped the first
Report MJK April 10, 2026 1:59 PM BST
Dela he gave the horse taps down the neck at most fences so cant blame it on that. The horse just isn't a very good jumper of a fence.
Report Delashay April 10, 2026 2:11 PM BST
I wasn’t blaming his fall on it MJK and acknowledged with Impossible that it’s dodgy jumper, it did react and start to leap though straight after those taps.
Report Newmarket-spurs April 10, 2026 2:11 PM BST
Old Nanny - the worst jockey I've ever seen attached to a top stable. He always finds a way to lose unless its a steering job and even then he'll F it up more times than not. I'm shocked there are people on here who actually rate him. Hilarious.
Report Newmarket-spurs April 10, 2026 2:17 PM BST
Delasay - he cost me a small fortune about 3 years ago on about five or six different races and I've despised him as a jockey ever since. He has subsequently shown himself to be an arrogant entitled c*ck of the highest order who actually thinks he is in the same class as AP, Ruby, Barry G etc.
Watch him closely - tactics, in a finish, race management. One of the worst I've ever seen.

at most fences so cant blame it on that. The horse just isn't a very good jumper of a fence.

There’s similarities here between Impaire and Gold Dancer

BOTH were tapped down the neck, one fell two out, the other put in a bad jump 3 out before landing badly at the last.

There’s a reason why he’s focusing them, that one fell and the other put in two quick bad jumps, that says it all for those who think that he didn’t feel anything.

He’s sure felling something when he’s tapping them, maybe Ruby could tell us if they are not only to keep the horse straight as he suggested for Impare but also to liven up a tiring horse to see out the race?

For those that say that Impare wouldn’t have won, you can’t have it both ways.
