Double kapooted. Can't win em all. Actually just as well. 10 ew double would have a return of 224. I must not go over the 200 threshold otherwise the crookies alarm bells start ringing. Every cloud...

About as many as any online licensed bookies I would think. btw I actually don't think these bets are profitable anymore. The place prices are obviously 1.33 and 1.32 in comparison to 2 and 1.45 in the books, but the win prices are so bad that they destroy that value. In fact, the expected return of a £10 ew bet on them is £19.10 and £17.50 respectively.

Dave When it was oncourse bookies setting sp, did win only books get included in the average?
Yes Dave, that is when it was profitable without any doubt. In fact I suspect some of the those oncourse bookies pushed out the price of the each-way horse and were taking advantage themselves. Sadly those days long gone.

Agree with Dave and Brian. Back in the day your Each-Way thief was getting amazing value on the place element of the EW bet and only moderately bad value on the win element. It was a trade-off well worth doing under the right conditions.
The way SP's/Prices work now, you are getting pretty good (rather than amazing) value on the place element and shockingly badly (rather than moderately bad) value on the win element.
^ Some degree of sweeping statement and generalisation in those sentances, which isn't really appropriate because the exact structure of every betting market is unique - but generally speaking, for Each Way singles (and even doubles) the balance has swung (imo) so that the terribly bad value win element now more than cancels out the good value of the place element.
Accas a different story maybe - but how often do you get 4 or 5 such races on one day? Also a different story if you can cover/hedge the win element of your bet without giving too much away - but that then brings other complex factors into play, maybe even including the chronological order of your selections!
In summary - it's complicated! - it's still doable - but it's not as good as it used to be!

Cheers TD correct. Playing up in stalls cost him 3rd but he wouldn't have won. Nothing wrong with the bet but these things happen. When Chapman was all over it I knew my fate. 20 odd years ago you would regularly see 1-7 13-2 25 bar in an 8 or 9 runner maiden. It was legalised stealing. Crookies have squeezed the orange so much there's barely a drop left. But we persevere..

Today's each way double is...4.05 Brighterdaysahead. 6.00 zooter. In the 2.32 secret sniper is fancied to definitely be in the 2 with a more than fair chance of winning. Fav is dodgy.

If you're deciding to add in ew singles to your ew doubles, 60 is your stake.
A lot of ppl laugh at betting a 6/4 chance each-way, but it can be profitable, as in this case, the first bet wasn't a dirty ew as pointed out by Brian.

Wow. Brian, never said brighterdaysahead was an each way steal race. Each way steal was Tuesday's double. Dave 10 ew single on 1 horse and a 10 ew double on the other 2 mentioned is 40 staked not 60.
