I am sure Mullins likes Cobden because his bridle style reminds him of Walsh. Problem is the other jocks used to pay far too much reverence to Walsh for much of his career. The younger breed don't do that anymore. Cobden is going to have to earn track positions.

Absurde needs a fast pace. Race was never likely to play to his strengths. Not too many jockeys can make the front runners go faster, definitely not the English ones

Quickly finding out it's not quite the same as riding three penalty kicks at Taunton.

Keep saying it and many will think I'm mad but last few years both jumps and flat Sunday racing throws up a too high number of beaten shorties. It really is a bookies benefit day over the year (even more than the rest that is). Love if someone could do a study of this at some stage.

odds on chances do also flop in Taunton. willie has had plenty of odds on flops before, and will have more in the future. anyone would be forgiven for thinking you are new to this game.

Only one of them had a chance on how they ran, arguably. And as I noted above, Absurde was up against it when there was no pace. But he was also briefly short of room.
