if it's being aimed at the melbourne cup, first prize £2.3 million, and it's a handicap. why would you try to win an egg and spoon race round kempton park by any more than a nose ? It needs a rating of 100+ to get into the melbourne cup, beating an 80ish rated horse by a nose obv isn't going to do that. |

Frico has a friend in not understanding English. I accept if the bookies made it crystal clear - ie Constitution hill to win by less than 5 lengths exactly 5 lengths or over 5 lengths - fools like frico would understand the bet.

(imo) Well it's a rough guess obviously with tenuous form lines but the 2nd fav beat a horse that has run in five handicaps and just won the last one off 77, the third in the race has just been beat off 75 and the short priced fav that day has been disappointing a few times since, however although the winner only just won it did have a slight cosy nature to it so there is likely improvement although he wasn't fancied much on the day so he "might" be able to push to 90 being optimistic....but as said if CH is pushing the 110 as many hope that's 20 odd pounds which is the best part of 2 stone........he'll need to replicate the visuals of southwell for the dream of group race glory to be realistic IMO. |

Of course there is another factor in play possibly and that is whether the other connections want to even get too close to CH with regards to marks going forward it depends whether there are any project jobs in the field, if CH is going to get an inflated mark in the fullness of time anything finishing close to him is going to suffer that fate too. If the 2nd fav for instance is regarded as a group horse then it might not apply and we might get a race but as I said he wasn't fancied in his maiden.

I agree with you, I think it will eventually all fizzle out, I was stating the case for what the pro flat spporters would be hoping for, I think as soon as he gets on the turf against group class horses he'll be exposed. |
