From what I can see from George’s post, it sounds like there’s two and a half fatalities and eighty injuries on course each week. The injuries sound  high. I couldn’t have had a blind guess at how many fatalities there would be though.

^ Why do you bet on it then??

I certainly don’t bet on greyhound racing….

Horse racing i suppose like 99 % of punters it’s the buzz of the game although i seldom back Nh,certainly wouldn’t miss it….

The greyhound problem is the 'missing' numbers, the 'wastage', who don't show up from death in action stats. They are fragile animals.

Banned in Scotland even though it doesn’t exist.

Only the loony Greens could submit a bill to ban something that doesn’t exist in the country.

Approximately 23% of children in Scotland—roughly 240,000—were living in relative poverty after housing costs in 2021-24, a figure that has remained largely stable over the last decade. While high, rates are falling due to interventions like the Scottish Child Payment, though poverty disproportionately affects larger families and households with disabled members.

What shall we discuss Today in Parliament ??  I  know, lets ban Greyhound Racing. SadCry

Scotland has become the second nation in the UK to outlaw greyhound racing within a span of just over 24 hours, as MSPs endorsed a Bill to terminate the sport.
The Greyhound Racing (Offences) (Scotland) Bill received support from 70 votes to 27 at Stage 3, with 19 abstentions.

You only have to look at what the GC have done to horse racing to see what happens when fanatics are allowed to impose their lunatic views on others

there would be issues if it was solely the kosher element involved

as it is the animal rights movement share the genaeral aversion to even the mildest criticism of the religion of peace. it is so violently intolerant and dangerous the mdia exercise self censorship

if you are a smallholder in the borders and kill your own cattle or poultry in a similar way, to eat or sell you are in danger of losing your liberty and property

but if you are of a certain faith its not a problem

the point is most racing  greyhounds are well looked after while racing and when retired often go to a good home where they are pampered and taken for walks etc . yes some may get injured its unfortunate but it happens footballers rugby players get injured marathon runners get injuries or have heart attacks shall we scrap those sports ?

Who / what is his source for this info please?

Kinda reminds me of the saddest song ever written...gets me every time this one...Old Shep.

As the years fast did roll
Old Shep, he grew old
His eyes were fast growing dim
And one day the doctor
Looked at me and said
"I can do no more for him, Jim"

With hands that were trembling
I picked up my gun
And aimed it at Shep's faithful head
I just couldn't do it
I wanted to run
I wish they would shoot me instead

He came to my side
And he looked up at me
And laid his old head on my knee
I had struck the best friend
That a man ever had
I cried so I scarcely could see

Old Shep, he has gone
Where the good doggies go
And no more with old Shep will I roam
But if dogs have a heaven
There's one thing I know
Old Shep has a wonderful home

I believe anything regarding animal cruelty…..subhuman garbage.

Animal welfare groups like Dogs Trust Ireland and the ISPCA have consistently highlighted 'wastage'.

The thousands of dogs that disappear from the system every year. Greyhounds are legally classified as "agricultural animals" rather than pets in Ireland, they have historically lacked the same legal protections as other dog breeds. Not sure if that's still the case, but it was. Presume the Dale programme must be referring to the RTE documentary from a few years back.

Just as well we don’t know what goes on regarding animal abuse…..

We only see snippets thank goodness….

Animal cruelty is on par with child cruelty both defenceless at the hands of subhuman garbage…

aussie dogs seem to be able to run up to 8 dogs with no difficulty, presumably because the hare is rail/middle.

When you think of all the cruel things that happen in the world and in this nation in particular, you would think banning greyhound racing, which actually gives pleasure to many, would be way down the agenda but I guess it is an easy target much easier than getting rid of drug problems, domestic violence and so much more.
By:
Jumper45

Yes. Entirely understandable people want to address animal welfare, but, yea, it does feel like a relatively easy issue for politicians to rally around compared to the more pressing social problems, of which we’re all very aware. It’s the kind of stance that lets them signal ‘compassion’ and ‘responsibility’ without wading into the tougher, more divisive challenges that are out there.

Throw in the obligatory pity tearjerking photos and videos, and hey, we're on a winner here guys.

8 dog races were commonplace at Catford , yes it was banked , but quite tight .

The point I was trying to make is that the aussie inside/middle hare seems to cause less collisions between the dogs.
