Foyles, if Farage/Lowe and Reform/Restore could join together they'd be very short to win the most seats at the next election,  imo
Both vying for the same voters
Unfortunately, egos might stop that happening

It's certainly not a clueless 'forensic' lawyer who can't orate to save his life, and has his own personal bespoke platinum plated pension that takes freebies from any bloke willing to give him one, that wouldn't know what working class was if it bit him on the bum. Lowe can articulate a sentence without reading a script that someone else has prepared, so he is already ahead of the current leader of the alleged party of the workers.

Anyone in politics that claims to be one or bandies about the word "patriot" - the first thing I ever do is google their tax affairs!

Quite a few high profile people on the left have opened themselves up to some shame and embarrassment (recently Angela Rayner and famously Tony & Hilary Benn) - but it's the people on the right and especially the far right that are far more likely to use the word "patriot" to describe themselves.

Googling their tax affairs is a real eye-opener - most of them seem to think that paying tax is just for plebs and that they are above it. i.e. I am a "patriot" - but all of my business and tax affairs are off-shore and a bit murky! Blush

Who are these left wing heroes that pay more tax then they have to ?

We're not talking about the red queen and cheating the system. Nobody I'm aware of pays more tax then they have to. And I would support them in that view, if they aren't demanding other people pay more.

Money-grubbing Labour MP Pat McFadden has claimed over £21,000 expenses – to rent a house next to one he owns! The shadow Europe minister has access to three homes.

McFadden prefers to travel by the Westminster gravy train. He boarded at the 2005 election – and boy has he had some ride.

In 2006, he bought a three-bedroom house near the centre of his Wolverhampton constituency for £159,000. He claimed more than £5,500 for legal fees and stamp duty.

Then, of course, he needed furniture. So he claimed £4,800 for that.

In July 2012 he let this house out, moved next door – and began claiming the rent on his expenses!

On top of this, he has a London home in fashionable (and eye-wateringly expensive) Highgate. He bought it for a mere £799,950 in 2009.

It has been there for years, decades, actually, always lying beneath the surface, never quite fully out in the open. Politically, the calculation was often simple: we need these people to vote for us; we always have.

After the Brexit vote, it began to surface more openly on social media and in parts of the mainstream media. Terms such as ‘gammon’ became widely used, often by the same commentators who, around this time, started to focus on issues like pronouns and gender identity, where any disagreement to the liberal mindset could quickly lead to public backlash or cancellation.

As support for Reform grows, some critics respond aggressively if you dare to mention immigration or Islam, framing opponents through associations, for example, linking them to Trump or portraying their views as inherently extreme. Extreme for whom?

Scrutiny extends to personal finances as well, where accusations may suggest wrongdoing. For the public, the distinction between tax evasion (a crime) and tax avoidance (which can be legal) is not always clearly communicated, but the implication alone can provoke anger. The attack dogs are out in force to cut into Reform’s lead. Don’t believe me. Go into the Guardian opinion pieces on any given day.

At the same time, experts and official data are often cited to argue that immigration is not linked to higher crime rates, and that most sexual offences are committed by someone known to the victim. Critics of this messaging argue that these claims clash with what people feel they are observing themselves, particularly when incidents appear to receive less prominent national coverage and instead show up only in regional reporting.

The result is a widening gap between institutional narratives and public perception. The rise of Reform and even now with Restore is testament to this.

I had to wait for Cheltenham to pass before I posted this!!!!
