I have not had a good meeting so far but not a disaster either thanks to place only bets and a few laid off in running. Libberty Hunter and Bass Hunter got me back within a few pounds despite having no winners at all from 6 win bets. Final Demand was easy to lay off at evens as he loomed up but could never really go past Kitzbuhl. No Drama This End was my only double stake bet of the meeting and he was beaten after a furlong. So today. 1.20 Horrible market but La Conquiere place only is my choice at the moment. I will delay a bet until a bit later. 2.00. Sixmilebridge was my morning choice but now it has to be Regents Stroll. 3.20 Bob Olinger to repeat his win over Teahupoo. This has been the best race at the meeting to look at last years result for 30 years or more. Never more than a handful of top class 3 mile hurdleers in traing. 4.00 Fact or File is the obvious choice to win. JPR One a very big place only price after his easy win at Musselburgh. 4.40. Another lottery but Another Doyen 14 and C'est Different 11 are my morning bets, probably to lay off at 4 for a 7-10 point margin. 5.20. Insurrection was awful last time but his third in January reads very well so a place only again. Good luck all and please don't give me grief when they all get thrashed.
Just got round to the 5.20 market. Insurrection 22 a place! If I can't lay that off at 10 in running I will be very disappointined. Gina Andrews a very good booking round there. Then fingers crossed that a 12/1 free bet goes in. Meanwhile, Paul Nicholls has at least had a third and a fourth while Ben Pauling and Olly Murphy have not done better than 7th and 6th respectively! The Jukebox Man is the only realistic hope left for either of them-and he is my only bet in the Gold Cup.

In these 20 runner races you are right. Libberty Hunter the only one to make up 20 lengths but still couldny catch Il Etait Temps who also came from back. Small field and spread out though.

Not a great day and today is never a card I find easy. Still need The Jukebox Man to get me at least nearly level on the 4 days but Kripticjim a place would also help. Triumph and Martin Pipe have become daft races to bet in unless you get the inside track from irish trainers.

Cheltenham as hard as ever. Doncaster easier. P Nicholls two runners one winner so far, Meatloaf to come. Kripticjim gave me a good spin and able to lay off but like JPR One yesterday, he didn't quite stay at that pace. Good win for Jamie Snowden.

English based riders are just not in the same league as Irish ones on the whole. Sean Bowen and Ben Jones probably went too fast. Paul Townend seems to be going nowhere and then whoosh up the hill. I didn't think that Gaelic Warrior would be the best stayer from the King George but he clearly is.
