I am staying back from criticising trainers and riders…….
That includes the point to point riders…..shouldn’t be too hard on the inexperienced individuals tbh….
Time to concentrate on the up and coming flat season, they will also avoid criticism.

Sorry in advance, but to me at all but 66 years old now, the youinger generations are quite pathetic.
'Ooh, he called me nasty names, ooh dear, ooh dear. I am going to run squealing to someone'.
Grow up son, and you Nico. Berhave like top class, professional sportsmena and sort it out like adults in the weighiong room, not 14 year old lasses in the playground.
Shameful!!!

If other jockeys back him up in his claim that he suffered 'racist 'abuse it will be a lot more than a petty incident. Though I find it hard to believe De Boinville would be so stupid with all the other Irish jockeys around him.

Seems scarcely believable that a jump jockey goes squealing to the authorities as he was the recipient of some hurty words. Probably more sore that he done his cash.

Not much surprises these days to be fair. I'd be pretty sure that the unwritten rule is that jockeys keep their squabbles to themselves, instead of flapping their gums to Matt Chapman lol

Nico De Boinville had been critical of Irish amateur riders before this year's Cheltenham Festival.
In an article on Cheltenham Festival starts, he said: "We're racing all the time and we're trying to protect the sport. The problem is an amalgamation of some of the Irish lads coming in and the amateurs who – and there is no other way of putting it – just don't care."

I think maybe there is a cultural difference there. If you think about whip rules, softening fences, calling meetings off etc. The English generally tend to be more wet about the animals. If a horse falls we're more concerned about the horse than the jockey

as for Nico it appears he called Queally an effing pr!ck, I'm sure Barney Curley called him a lot worse when he messed up on some of his gambles.
sounds about right, utter nonsense.as for Nico it appears he called Queally an effing pr!ck, I'm sure Barney Curley called him a lot worse when he messed up on some of his gambles.
No, he's Tom's brother, rode for Curley as an amateur.https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/racing/2026/03/11/declan-queally-irish-racing-likes-when-smaller-stables-are-able-to-compete-against-bigger-ones/#:~:text=When%20he%20was%2015%2C%20he,at%20odds%20

NICO - 'Point to Point' thinks he is a top jockey in the same league as Ruby & AP because he has ridden all those Grade 1s. This has made him even more of a snobby entitled pr**k then he always was. He wanted the inside position and this Irish amateur was in his way. He tried to get him out of his entitled way and an argument ensued. Nico swore at him and called him the slang word for gypsy.
D.QUEALLY - He was in the inside position that 'Point to Point' wanted and was allowed to be (as AP & Ruby both stated).... An argument ensued. He stood his ground and posh boy didn't like it and they both started swearing at each other. However, it was pathetic of him to go and have a cry on national TV and start screaming 'waaycist'. He should've just said Nico is an entitled pr**k and a crap jockey and left it like that.
RESULT : This will be brushed under the carpet because all the public school gin soaked stewards will back Nico.

So far today, only comments I have seen are from Chappers. I generally like Chappers, however, unless he knows something, he should have said nothing on the morning programme. He was going on about keyboard warriors, no problem there, however intentionally or otherwise he implied there was little to see here, other than what we saw on the track, in which case, it could, I repeat could imply that he thought Queally was over reacting. Using the well worn phrase that he could not be racist because he sits in a room with Irish jockeys he could not be racist was daft. Unless there are witnesses, only 2 people know what was said. On the track what was shown that De Boinville thinks he is entitled to his own lane at the start. As a guess and no more comments were made than in the heat of the moment, someone high up should have banged heads together and sorted his, what racing does not need is this been drawn out.

As an Irish man I wouldn't take offence at being told 'f*** off back to Ireland' as apparently Queally is insinuating. Also didn't see it at the time but read that Cobden had a few words with De Boinville after witnessing the rant.

MJK I would not disagree with you, I mainly think this should have already been dealt with, however rumour has been allowed to grow. However, if the word that someone has suggested De Boinville said, I would never have complained, I would have laid him out. Time someone made a statement and his was put to bed.

I had to laugh at Trapman talking about the keyboard warriors! Hes an on air live to broadcast one!
Reminded me of the shatstirrers at school the way he was going on about it.
Ruby always had the inside lane, no one dare go near and it’s pretty much the same for Moore on the flat so I like to see them shaken up from having first dibs!

Sometimes you really do think you are now living in a parallel universe. Obviously Queally is overreacting. Running off to the feds as he is pretending to be offended by some hurty words. There's enough of this sh1t without bringing it into horse racing. They'll be kneeling in the parade ring before the gold cup soon enough.

Queally actually running off to the feds as he received some hurty words. You don't need to be there to know he is reacting like a little girl's blouse. We don't need this woke shiit in horse racing, it's infected pretty much every other part of society.

Cider,,,,sport on...trouble is the media love to promote any confilct because that is what they think the public (especially the young) want. Look at footbsll and the carry on at corners every time.
Years back, the suthorities would have quickly legislated agianst that boring nonsense but now they leave it because, I suspect, Sky TV love it going on.
Now, racing, as you say, is being infected by this petty and daft squabbling.
Grow up Nico and the Irish lad and sort it out with a quick public handshake so those of with a brain left in our heads do not have to suffer this drivel any longer...

The BHA were clearly concerned that the left wing media like the BBC were picking up the story and it was overshadowing the racing so this needed to be swept under the carpet. I feel sorry for Declan Murphy who has been forced into this to protect posh boy.... That arrogant (insert profanity here) 'Point to Point' hasn't got a sincere bone in his body. One of the worst jockeys I've ever seen with the character to match.

The threat of a suspension seems to have curtailed the snobbery and racial discrimination of Nico. Maybe the patronage of JP horses at Hendo's stable was another major decider in an about-turn by him.

I cant work out why if Nico likes to be near the rail at the start why he was 20 horses wide at the start of the county hurdle? Had the Irish jockeys told him to piss off?
