Good morning ciderThere’s some great places in the north there both very different but great places to visit Harrogate and Newcastle, despite the rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester I always enjoy going to Liverpool just a fun place with plenty of character about it ,further north Edinburgh is very much worth a visit ,from a racing point of view Hexham and Kelso are impossible not to like and you would get a very pleasant surprise at Hamilton.who was you watching on your visit to old Trafford ?

Thanks. I'd be slightly nervy about going to Liverpool as a southern softie Grin But it should be done. And probably even less of a welcome in sunny Scotland. It's quite bad that I have never been to Scotland though.

Old Trafford was more years ago than I'd care to remember. It was to watch my team Spurs, Beckham played for Man U and it finished 0-0! And a snowstorm on the M1 on the way home lol.

I went to Old Trafford a couple of years ago. I was shocked at what a dump the whole area was, including the stadium, for the 'greatest' club in the world.

blimey. didnt know this was on the cards

theyve got the wrong colour. should be red. polanski(not his real name) is crackers but persuasive if you are a bit fick, as many are. and he gets more favourable meeja coverage because hes on the left of sensible, in stark contrast with reform who are traduced at every turn

this is despite me being 1.02 the greenest forumite, recycling everything (including jokes) long before it became trendy, never had a car, only a bike

the old trafford stadium is fine. mind you i was in the poshest bit witlh the top jollies and didnt mix with the lower orders. and it was rl gf, not football

wearing a whistle in lpool is riskier than where you are from. sounds nuts but i know 3 geezers who were attacked for that sole reason

For me the worst area was Leeds, the worst stadium was Blackburn. Blackburn was the coldest I had been in my entire life, before or since. They put the away fans near a gap in the stands that welcomes a gale in directly from the arctic. It must have been developed since those days!

Kaiserslautern the most interesting away game, when you go in the stadium you each get handed a pad to sit on. So no standing but no seats either! And we got beat by a last minute goal to put us out of the tourny.

I don't follow footy at all these days, national or international. For my sins yes I was a Spurs fan. Gazza, Ginola, King, Bale that type of era. Some of the best players that ever lived, so not all bad :)

i saw gazza play when he was 17 or 18, fat kid got mocked before the start, an early game for newc in league cup i think, no one was laughing at the end

moenchengladbach a good one. its invisible as its a big hole in the ground. and great beer and frankfurters all over the gaff. and no bother

polish grounds are quite something. all falling to bits and covered in barbed wire

Swiftly

It’s by the docks to be fair just over the river now where the bbc and itv along with the war museum plus bars and restaurants are it’s quite nice but yes the ground has seen better days.

The area city play is much worse.

The Scot’s who live in Scotland are fine it’s those that live in England you need to watch.
On the historical question on Gorton I’m really surprised nobody got it .

The first ever greyhound meeting took place there

jimnast, maybe we approached the stadium via a bad route, lots of it run down, empty buildings etc, but same as every city now I guess. The stadium, bar the pitch view, was a big disappointment, water pouring off the roof, one bar between hundreds of fans. We did spend a night out in a much nicer bit, think it was more Salford, good bars and tram links.

when I grew up Salford was the poor area of Manchester and everyone supported United now it’s much nicer but still everyone supports United

A sharp decline in quality of life and living standards in Britain over the last 25 years. The population has increased by 12 million during that period.
A direct correlation or pure coincidence, now let's have a think?
