Maybe I've not been very observant before, but I noticed today in the 15.14 at Southwell, that they result shows 2 horses at odd on. Just how tight are they becoming.

Its quite common in other sports to have 2 contestants both odds on. In fact most “even money “ , outcomes are priced up like this. Say goals odd or even or toss winner in cricket. In ice hockey, my sport, it is very common to see money or puck lines like 18/25 one team and 20/23 the other. The good old fashioned course bookies of old must be turning in their graves.
It is not really bookmaking if you can't lose is it ?

It's because it was basically a match race. The rest of the field had no chance.
