A Kon Tiki like drift with absolutely no clue in the form book.
Not a good look

Report uptheirons February 5, 2026 3:53 PM GMT

They backed every other horse in race ....

2/7 if still with Willie....
Report uptheirons February 5, 2026 3:58 PM GMT
Every other horse backed told you that somebody got wind that the Fav was "no good" today.
Thank God for BF

You just join in, late to the party when a big drift like that is on...Happy

Bramley and McCoy did well to get the wins they did after getting the mare from Mullins imo.

Lots of WMs long odds on shots get beaten.

Well, a few do, especially before christmas.

Trainer blaming it on the ground it seems. Obviously different to all those good to firm wins in Ireland...
Report Ramruma February 6, 2026 9:38 AM GMT
A Flat-bred mare who has never won left-handed should not have been odds-on in the first place.
Report Cider February 6, 2026 10:06 AM GMT
Hunt is right handed, and she's already won plenty of chases. Not sure that either of those apply.
Report Cider February 6, 2026 10:09 AM GMT
Led early, raced in second from 2nd, jumped right 6th, led again before 8th, joined 10th, lost position 2 out, weakened last (enq held into the performance of the mare, which having been a heavy, odds-on favourite overnight had drifted throughout the day of the race before going off 11/8f and finishing fifth, beaten by 13l. Jockey explained that he was happy with his position throughout the race, helping to set an even tempo, but did indicate that the mare's jumping was not as slick as is customary on occasions. Jockey added that when the mare came under pressure there was a very limited response to his urgings and ultimately he was very disappointed in the mare's failure to finish the race off. Trainer, when interviewed via telephone, had no explanation for the mare's performance, other than indicating that despite the mare having form on soft ground when contesting weaker races in Ireland, she concluded that perhaps the mare would appreciate less testing conditions now racing in a higher grade; vet examined the mare during routine testing and had nothing to report; trainer reported that a post-race endoscopic examination of the mare revealed no adverse findings) (op Evens)

Could easily be a plausible explanation, I suppose slightly notable however that the trainer wasn't seemingly present for her (assumed) long odds on runner in a listed race. I don't suppose she's had too many of them in the past.

She was interviewed in the paddock prior to the race on racing tv.She said Horse was fine and the plan was to make the running"
Report Cider February 6, 2026 11:51 AM GMT
Personally I don't feel the market action can be explained away as a correction. And of course, it foretold the lamentable effort. However, that doesn't mean the trainer was implicated in any wrongdoing. Very bizarre however that she was seemingly interviewed on the phone, if she was at the track.
Report Cider February 6, 2026 11:52 AM GMT
I wasn't involved in the race financially.
Report differentdrum February 6, 2026 11:53 AM GMT
I know it has back form on softer ground, but all it's recent form has been on much better ground. It doesn't have a soft ground action. It was unlucky with the start last time, but it was still relatively disappointing. So possibly going backwards, ground, and being hassled on the front end all contributed to the performance.
Report 1st time poster February 6, 2026 12:18 PM GMT
no ones laying a 2 to 7 shot at 6 to 4 because its very best form has been on better ground and it was 4 lenths clear going down back for final time
Report 1st time poster February 6, 2026 12:19 PM GMT
and of course it was this horse and not AOI in the feature race that was lots of bookies superboosted horse, DevilDevil
