John Carney. Later wrote and directed Sing Street. About a kid who forms a band to impress a girl. As I`m a teen of the 80`s with a questionable taste in music and educated by Irish priests, it resonated. The scenes with the kid and his dead beat older brother are the highlight. Free on youtube I believe.
Watched a film called BIRD other night, very weird but kind of interesting.
