Good luck.
As I said yesterday it looks very difficult to me. One for the short price backers and those who like throwing money at big field handicaps. I don't. I hope the novice hurdle is between King Rasko Grey and Ballyfad. I did like the Gordon Elliott horse when he won his point, but the form looks nothing special and any potential value has long gone - 20/1-7/1. Given he was sold for 370,000 expectation will be high, but it's a big ask first time. Would like to have opposed the front two in the Champion Hurdle, but Anzadam is a dodgepot, and El Fabiolo is a 9yo who probably wants better ground. Almost certainly Marine Nationale doesn't want this ground either. Given that it doesn't say a lot for the others that he is shortening. Jimmy De Seuil is very weak, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he ended up back over hurdles. He looked to have no scope under Danny Mullins. |

I usually back Marine Nationale DD but similar to you the ground is putting me off. I'll still be happy for the horse if he wins, but Majborough could get some kind of redemption today. I've done a little multiple today as well with Mark Walsh's mounts. Could be one of those days that the media will love with everything thats gone on the last few weeks regarding his JP split.

Final DEMAND
SUNK Hes a dodgy jumper Never Gold cup class ![]() |
By:
Not a very good start for those who like a short one. Thankfully, I wasn't one of them, but a big blow for those who have suggested Final Demand was the second coming. Atrocious performance from Jimmy De Seuil. It seemed the market knew he shouldn't be running, even if Mullins didn't. Brown Advisory betting all over the place.
Mare who won the opener travelled very well, and would have won even easier without a couple of bungles. Might be a Graded horse under those conditions. Third decent winner for Augusta Kate. |

Willie a bit cool with Lydia
By:
Good! She wanted him to give a rundown/preview of each runner in the next race one by one lol
By:
Of course, his priority for the day is talking to a know it all.

Weird ride from Kennedy in the novice chase.
Rated 1 pound below the fav, let the front 2 get maybe 15 lengths clear down the back straight, then used all the horse's energy to close down the front 2 in the home straight. Presumably riding to pick up the pieces, but would have finished much closer with a more proactive ride. |

Knew Ballyfad had got chinned on the line yet Lisa O'Neill called him the winner. Hilarious listening to her back track after the result was called. Still a very good run but the winner would've been a very unlucky loser. JJ Slevin pretty downbeat for a jockey thats just won. Think he knew he got out of jail with giving the horse too much to do.

MN looks far too short to me here
By:
Lydia put in her place by Willie has made my day.
By:
Lydia asks if it was the ground for FD's flop, Mullins says no so Lydia proceeds to tell him why he is wrong. She wants to run the Mullins yard as well as Cheltenham racecourse!
By:
Only bet so far is Marine Nationale @ 2/1 but could not back it at the price now.

I have absolutely no time for Hislop, but Mullins did himself no favours by running off. Will she call him out? I doubt it, prefers the easy targets.
Sickener for Ballyfad and King Rasko Grey backers. They dominated the race, and the winner burgled it in the last stride. King Rasko Grey (big drifter) travelled like the best horse, and no surprise if he went up in trip. |
By:
I cannot see Marine Nationale winning today. The Mullins' will win.

Fantastic from Majborough. Well done to Mark Walsh for telling Willie (as per his interview) that Majborough needed to lead. Horse still looks as though it can take off too early and crash and may need this ground but it was still a super performance.

By:
assuming ground dries out that winner won't be 7/4 come march

solness ,viso 1st time because they can, drifts like a barge, had to be shoverd and pushed to go the YARD IT WENT
nothing to see here its irish racing ![]() ![]() |

Angus going on about the time, comparing it to hurdle times today
![]() The only other chase race fell apart. |

wrong ground for solness

By:
Solness didn't fancy the new headgear! MN's limitations exposed yet again

wrong ground after 50 yds

By:
I doubt Marine had any limitations exposed other than better ground would be better and for the jockey to pay more attention.
By:
yeah obviously didn't pick up the bridle today, way before any going impact.
By:
MN has never been a great chaser in my view, obviously won a Champion that also fell apart, other than that he hasn't done anything special.

By:
hence the drift
By:
Hopefully he keeps going off too short though

By:
MN Needs better ground.
By:
drift was going yes, not why he failed to raise a gallop
By:
By:
Well the ground is quicker than most people thought, still went off a silly price and never in the contest.
By:
majborough today 7-8s slower than solness leopardstown double last ssn
By:
I wouldn't be confident that Majborough will have the same conditions and run of the race in March. Everything went right today. Rather than taking him on Solness looked a dog. I have taken 7/2 Marine Nationale for the Champion in what looks likely to be an ordinary renewal.

I doubt anyone is saying it's fast going. It's not heavy, and not soft. Not at 3 seconds slow
By:
Anyway the CC seems to fall apart every year nowadays, but he won't win it again if they all run their race.
By:
solness wants its quicker
