Should this not be 2s on? The roll of honor in this race is illustrious for Charlie Appleby and I'd be shocked if it can't run to a minimum 80 here. Nothing gets close imo

Not necessarily irons. I wouldn't call it a guess. the profile was all there. Trainer, owner, sire, price tag, market strength. Stable well known for readying their better juveniles for a run at kempton.
Report uptheirons January 28, 2026 7:23 PM GMT
That is entirely up to you, saddo.
The horse had never run before.
What else is it other than a guess?
Well done,BertieLaugh

This. Irons is a sad case. Best ignored.

Is it not that every sports bet placed before the event has started is nothing but a guess , some are educated some are not , there are so many questions and probabilities that can only be answered once the result is known.

I would class this instance as a well educated guess and congrats to the op on same

Exactly. It's called trends. Data. Its what all the big players on here are inputing into models. Inside info nice If you can get it, the rest of us must speculate.

I can estimate what a horse has run to but could only guess as to what a newcomer can put up
Report ThePomp January 28, 2026 7:39 PM GMT
I understand your point irons. There are any amount of variables taken into account when pricing a race. It not having raced before would certainly be one. Ultimately any bet placed could be called a guess. Or choice, or selection etc. I wasn't involved in the race but godolphin juveniles unraced or not have done me well very the past 5/6 years. Quorto, native trail, corebous, Pinatubo to name a few. Quorto was a shame. Unbeaten as a two year old & looked like he would improve exponentially as a 3 year old. Kept in training until 4 but fatally injured on the gallops I think.

Any more advice on the DRF being on,"two bobber"?
Report the dealer January 28, 2026 7:48 PM GMT
It won well from the car park draw and looked useful. Hard to say what it achieved though, they looked to crawl, beat the 2nd in the betting but not sure that is any good. The proximity of the 3rd, finished well giving loads of weight.
Will be really interesting to see how the race works out, the mark it gets and how far it can improve,

Oh and WD

but it is strange how people follow teams despite having no connection aside from seeing them on the tv

where is the thrill or association or feeling of belonging?

i can understand some fans without a team like those in cornwall or ireland having a liking because the pl is a monster, like it or not

but i see liverpool or man u fans in london who live next door to arsenal or spurs, or whoever (my fave is leyton orient, i luv em, and a great ground also)

if your old man is a fan i get it, mine was and i followed him but these others i just dont see it

Never made sense to me, I was born in Southampton and they have always been the only team I have been intrested in. Backing them to win the 76 Fa Cup at 150/1 has only hardened that support. Happy

Trevor Brooking's header in the final against (the certanties)Arsenal was one I treasured
Report Busyfool January 28, 2026 10:43 PM GMT
probably the only header is my guess

remember when the loonies turned on the board and starting shouting abuse at them?

brooking just sat there, unperturbed and they aimed their vitriol as far from him as they could

people talk of club legends too easy but hes a real one
Report LoyalHoncho January 28, 2026 10:45 PM GMT
I first paid attention to the huge attributes of Trevor Brooking when, for sone reason I can’t now recall, England played a “friendly” against Italy, I think it was in New York.  Italy were at their cynical worst and went out of their way to target him and kick him off the park.  Literally.  Never once lost his temper, or played into their hands by retaliating but still kept trying to play football.  Great resolve and determination shone through.  And of course his ability.  Terrific player.

Jimnast 1976 was indeed a great year to be a Southampton fan, me and a friend had a £1 e/way at 150/1 ( half the odds to reach the final ), believe  it or not I wasn't quite old enough to bet when I placed the bet, but was old enough (18) to collect the winnings in May.
