Apart from the winner and the pug who won a race last August, the rest haven't won for over a year as far as I can see. The majority would need more than a drop in the weights to win again, even in that grade.

When A/W Racing first came in I knew a few excellent Handicap Judges who were mostly "carried out" by making a five runner race,2/1 each the front three,10/1 and 20/1 the remainder. When given an opportunity to Lay one of the front three at 11/10 they stepped in. Result was,Fav went off at 1.7 on here, second in at 5.6 and the third in at 12.0. Natuarally, the fav obliged. With £1200 to the winner it was utterly rancid. Has too much changed?

Probably not and strangely enough I think it's harder to win a grade 5,6 or classified stakes race, than higher grade handicaps. There are always one or two that end up well in by a double figure lbs. There are plenty as well though that are just no good, might win out the blue when everything falls in place. Is there one in that race that "didnt try" that you would say would win in its next few runs?

Cost £2.5k,got more than their dough back. Dartrey in line for the £40K top month prize but has done the same as this horse (Won on it's 1ST 3 runs this month). Is that because it did the winning earlier? Thought it would be split evenly,£30K/£30K.

Getting one well handicapped in a 0-60, 0-55, classified is almost a licence to print. You see these sequences every winter. Tbf the connections probably do quite well from it if you add the punting into it. You could own a fairly handicapped 80s horse and have no where to rub it.

they are increasingly waiting to keep horses in bad races rather than stepping up slightly in class like they used to do. Now it's all about winning races not going for a 4k or 5k race. Layers beware.

I started a thread trying to predict the winner of the £100K bonus - Profit Street was the one which had caught my eye - down the handicap, part-owned by those shrewdies The Horse Watchers and having joined James Owen - what wasn't there to like? As it turned out Owen alone must have about ten ahead of it in the pecking order, never mind all the other trainers
