Haydock is not what it used to be since the old chase course was sacrificed for more Flat racing. Haydock's geology is not good but when they looked for a new site nearby, they could not find one (that's the bit OP asks about) but Haydock still has some good races.
That's about the size of it.

Someone in the post needs to have a chat with Liam Headd. Headlines today in pages 1 and 2 talking about henderson's horses. He states Constitution Hill "is an 8 year old". Now if you don't know the age of this brilliantly enigmatic characters age - 9 obviously - you clearly should not be writing in the trade paper. Needs to vacate his desk cos this is schoolboy stuff. Another one dug up from god knows where.

Ignore that. 2017 makes him 9, but the Post does list Con Hill as an 8-year-old, and the link to his catalogue page is broken.
So WTF is going on with the Post's database?

That's it judge. As stated Constitution Hill is a 9 year old. If Liam writing in the post doesn't know or understand the workings of a horses birthday that he clearly should not be writing in the paper.

My guess is the writer looked up Constitution Hill on the Post site.
And that gives the wrong age but the right foaling date. Maybe the Post only updates ages when horses run because it would be too bloody obvious to do so at the new year.

RP now shows 9yo after Con Hill was entered in the Champion Hurdle and at Southwell, so it looks like that is what triggers the age to be updated. A stupid system compared with doing the lot at new year (although I suppose the southern hemisphere would be a complication in a handful of cases).

The point is being continuously missed. Liam Headd is the Lambourn correspondent. He's meant to be "in the game". If he is indeed "in the game" he absolutely should NOT need to rely on any data, Google, racing post etc to tell him Constitution hill is a 9 year old. He should automatically KNOW it. But even now he doesn't. Poor journalism innit.
